sgomes,

I just did a full discharge (to 1.1 volt) and recharge at .5amp on my charger and it peaked at 11.1 volts... Sounds kind of low to me though. It's a new radio with a new battery mamybe it will get better with age. My battery bar never fills up, it's at about 3/4 as well. I hear folks are puting lipos in these radios, may have to try that myself.

Later,
Gunner

Hi Gunner,

Yeah, I left mine on for 48 straight hours, and it only got to about 3/4 bar at 11.6v. Maybe that's it.

Thanks.

Steve

Hello All
well, I have gone from not knowing a swash plate from spindle shaft, to regularly hovering at 3 foot now. I am still practicing and still love the Falcon , especially since I have taken her apart and put her back together so many times, but its taught me allot. I have her so she lifts right off nice and easy, its a great feeling.
thanks to all of you and your help and advice and ingenuity,
Peace
X

I read somewhere that the bar was calibrated for 12 volts for the guys that are using li-po batts in the trans. Wouldn't be surprised if they came out with li-pos for the trans later on. No reason why not. No worrys about the batt. going dead with the discharge rate that nihm batts have.

Long story short. Back in December when I bought my falcon I chose to get it from Hobby Lobby anyhow they were a whopping $50.00 more. There were others who were selling for cheaper but I listened to Gary about the service that HL provided to their customers and I was somewhat discouraged in the past because of the the tail shaft failure. I did everything to try and keep that shaft from breaking but it still kept coming apart. I had posted something that a salesman emailed me and going back to my operations manager's days of running a company I can remember where my salesman would never admit that there was something wrong done by the company. So I can see where Don was probably coming from and then maybe he hadn't heard about the shaft failures.
Well all that changed when Gary got Eric to come and post on here about him doing things personally to make it better thru the manufacture.
I didn't post that my last shaft that I hadn't gotten back in early Jan. gave out after just a few easy flights last week but I contacted Eric about it and he took it upon himself to make sure everything that was broken when it came down is being replaced.
SO PUT YOUR EARMUFFS ON AND LISTEN FOR THE EXTRA 30-50 DOLLARS THAT YOU ARE GOING TO SAVE IN THE BEGINNING BY NOT GETTING IT FROM HOBBY LOBBY COULD COME BACK TO HAUNT YOU IN THE FUTURE IF YOU HAVE ANY FAILURES.
THANKS AGAIN HL AND ERIC

I made a tailboom from an Easton 2216,they were 19.99 a six pack. They were a little snug so a 2213 should be about right.Don't make the same mistake I made and buy them in camo. They may look cool while they're sittin still, but are harder to see if you fly in front of trees.Does anyone know of an alternate canopy?I'd like to swap mine for somthing a little more substancial but have had no luck

So far the Art-Tech canopy is the only one I have heard that fits. Overseas they have a yellow and a blue one but we only got the maroon, some call red, one,

i need a lipo battery balancer, but i don't know which one to get (too many types). I know that there are some that can balance with or without the use of a charger and some that balance only while you are charging. I already have a super brain 989 charger, and i am not looking to break the bank (thats way too easy with this hobby). What do you guys use?
The thunder power charger looks like a good choice; who has experience with them and how good are they?

I have the thunder power ballencer, was a waste of money, I ended up buying the cell pro 4 charger, it also balances the battery, it made the thunder power ballencer obsolete.

The Hyperion LBA10 is probably the best cell balancer made. I have one, and also have the older LBA6. Both are excellent, and highly recommended:

If you are just looking for a balancer, the Blinky works well. Balances with, or without the charger and is cheap. If a charger, balancer, the Cellpro is hard to beat.

If you don't like the camo coloring on your tail-boom you can always put on a coat of Easy Off oven cleaner, it will remove the camo in a few minutes and make the aluminum bright and shiny. Just be sure to do it before you put it on the heli and do it outdoors since it smells bad. Also wear rubber gloves since it will burn your fingers with the chemical reaction.

Gary

P.S. You can also remove the coloring on any aluminum part using this method, just don't leave it on too long or it can pit aluminum!

DZS,

If you are just looking for a balancer, then I will defer to the above recommendations; but, it you want a compact charger/balancer I agree that the Cellpro 4s is a good unit. Note, if you get the cellpro, you will need to get their 2s 3s adapter. Here are the links:

Man, I just noticed their prices have gone up a bit, so you may be better off with something else.

Also, you will need to have a 12v power supply for the Cell Pro.

Falcon sighting. A hobby town USA opened up near me (melbourne FL)and of course I had to check it out. Well I was surprised to find that they sell the Falcon . They're $299 same as hobby lobby. I'm hoping they sell parts for it as well. They were really busy at the time so I didn't ask about parts since I was kind of in a hurry. They did have a pretty nice store though. It was somewhat weird for me though as it is the first "chain type" hobby shop I've been too. I'm used to the smaller privately owned places. They had a Flight Sim set up on a big flat screen TV which was pretty cool and all kinds of hobby things there not just RC. I'll have to go back in and see about parts. My girlfriend's mom gave me a $25 gift certificate for easter so maybe I'll go buy some spares. Anywhooo just thought I'd share.

I wish that was my store! My specialty gift store, which carries the ka-planes line is still about a month out and is only 4 miles down the same road from them. I love it, good for the hobby!!!

Lee,
Mike sells the parts for the Falcon in the store also.
He's waiting for more parts to come in but I think Hobbl-Lobby now has most of the parts for the Falcon and they dropped the prices.

If anyone is interested, I am selling off my spare parts inventory. I've got quite a few and would like to make as few shipments as possible, so the bigger the order the more I will discount. At the very least, I will pay for shipping.

I also just received a dozen 2213 xx75 arrow shafts in a cool platinum color that I will let go for $2 per boom plus shipping. Not sure the best way to ship those - any ideas will be appreciated.

If anyone is interested, please email me at gomes@alamedanet.net

My wonderful wife surprised me with a 450 SE (not the V2, but still a nice heli).

Well, the upgrade parts can sometimes be more of a pain than I orginally thought. It seems as if all of the screws are locktighted really good in red alunmim. I have broken off three screw heads on it. I spent the majority of my day drilling and tapping the metal. Once i get all the bugs worked out i am sure it will work well. Is there a secert to getthe screwheads out without braking them? I was thinking maybe heat?

katanaracer,

I had pretty much the exact same experience. In fact, I was aggravated enough that I just put the Art-Tech pieces aside for a month till I desparately need them. And that did finally happen.

My worst problem was the tail gear box and the flybar holder. I am now using the tail gear box but not after several hours of carefully heating the tail piece and removing the busted screws, three of them, and then tapping all the holes again.

The flybar holder is still resting in a sealed bag and will probably never get used as I now run TRex pieces on my Falcon head and they are really smooth and also allow me to use the TRex flybars which are available everywhere and inexpensive.

So, best way is to heat the pieces. I used a commercial heat gun and that worked okay. Still a royal pain.

Carl
