Greetings from sunny South Africa. I have just returned to this wonderful world of RC modeling after an absence of about 15 years. My, how the technology has changed. I still have a Byron Pitts Special in my posession, so that will give you some idea of how long I was out of the game. Anyway - I managed to get my hands on a Somenzini Yak54 -72in locally. CONGRATULATIONS on a GREAT aeroplane. The quality of the kit is unbelievable. NO PROBLEMS. Built up with JR 8411 and 8511 servos. No other changes. Engine is a SAITO 180 - still running it in, but AWESOME power. Also installed a onboard glow, with the option of using a remote glow driver if needed. At this stage I am not into the 3D flying, so the power at sea level is good for my flying. All that was required for the maiden flight was ONE click of up elevator trim and my baby was hands off at 1/2 throttle. I even managed an Inverted flat spin on the 2nd flight. I cannot wait to learn to fly this plane properly. Guess what ??? - My next plane will be the new 86in version with a gasser. I will probably source it in the USA as I usually go to SFA or Monterey area.
