At sea level a 75cc to 80cc would be perfect. I am flying it at 6000 feet and also have a smoke system in it. It is probably a bit underpowered here for the weight. I am flying again this weekend. I should get some more flights on it and will post again how it does.

I'm still waiting for someone who put a 100cc on it to see how it did and what's the auw on it!!!!!!

It looks like it's undepower with a 75cc isn't it?????

You will probably be waiting a while...
There is no place in GA where this would be underpowered with an 80 or 75. Smarks decked his out and has one of the heavier engines on his. With a ligher, more powerful engine such as the ZDZ 80 Super, and careful equipment selection, 22 pounds should be easily obtainable. At sealevel, you would have a rocket on your hands!
Putting a DA100 on this thing would ruin it - you'd be pushing 25 pounds! That might be great for power, but the plane would fly like a brick! You'd be looking at a 35 ounce wingloading - that's higher than most 40%ers!

Going from the 80s to the DA100 should be more like 1 pound not 3?

The very nice manual shows H.D. plastic servo arms--Is this OK for a 23 pound 3D/IMAC plane?

The open canister/pipe tunnel looks great on this plane.

The DA weighs 1.5 pounds more than the ZDZ80, plus the extra weight of the extra ignition lead, the larger prop, the dual mufflers, the extra fuel cargo, etc. It's not 3 pounds but it is at least 2 or close. I never directly said there was a 3 pound difference. My 22 pound talk was considering minimum equipment on an 80CC powered plane with CF everything.
As for the plastic arms being OK, Yes, as long as they are the karbonite arms or maybe the Dubro heavy-duty arms. Mark Dennis is using the Karbonites on his AWX 35% 260 exclusively and has yet to have a failure

Will a ZDZ 60 power the new QB 75 cc Yak from Aeroworks? I just crashed a stuipd Wild Hare 540 Edge 28% and I never want another Wild hare so I was hoping the 75cc Yak would be a good choice. Dennis whats you input on this question??????

The ZDZ 60 will be to small for the 75cc Yak but it would be perfect for our 50cc and would give it awesome power.

I just finished my first five flights on the 75cc Yak with a ZDZ 80 Super on it and am thoroughly impressed. I fly at just over 5000' and with a new engine have good accelerating punch-out of the hover. Currently turning a Menz 26x10 at just over 6000. I suspect I'll see another 200-300 as she breaks in. The Yak flies very light, although I haven't weighed it (I weigh at the local small town Post Office, and they've been closed since Friday). Components include the ZDZ, 5955's all the way around, 545bb on the throttle, manual choke, Smart-Fly Power Expander, Ignition Cutoff, TurboReg, and flag switch. I am using my 12Z and 5014 PCM G3 receiver, so the new 14MZ Power Expander is a good match. No smoke for now, and the stock muffler.

I was really impressed with the quality of the components. I used all of it, which is really unusual for me. Normally I vertical file the majority of the hardware on most giant-scale ARF's, so it was a pleasant surprise to have such nice hardware.

Anyway, back to the discussion on power, I think the ZDZ 80 Super is perfect through at least 5000'. Might need more up at 6500, but should be ridiculous at sea level!

Scott

Good to hear about the hardware. Makes this QBARF even more of a value. Are you running the new Supersonic pitts?
