I have a LR-1 with a Super Tigar 40, And it keeps losing alt. in the turns. Dinnis C. use to help me with this prob. on my Q-500s but I haven,t seen or herd from him lately ,so I would appreciate some help.

So I assume it wants to roll into a sharp left turn? you need to add tip weight tho RH outer wing panel or adujust the tail feather travel. Less on the RH side.

Is the wing straight? try adding a little right rudder trim. Or just don't turn that hard. It might have that good a trim to begin with

I,l try to add weight to the right wing first (per Super Splatter) If that don,t work I,l give your differential a try Reno. I rely thank you for your help.

Budman,

If you try the differential, only adjust the downward turning aileron. Leave the upward moving aileron alone. Try 1/2 mm increments at a time. You will start seeing your plane turning much straighter. Don't go too far because you will see the plane starting to lift out of the turns.

Hope that helps.

Ps. you are going to take movement out of the downward aileron.

Try differntial.

Differential can help make the roll going into a turn more axial but won't help at all during the turn. Ailerons are neutral there! Differential can help if the airplane is diving or climbing as you roll into the turn. Like Splatter said, maybe you are just turning too hard? If the turn radius is good, the airplane isn't rolling during the turn and is just dropping its nose some, try some right rudder trim .. a little goes a long way here. CG hasn't been mentioned yet. A nose heavy airplane will tend to drop its nose in a turn, tail heavy will want to climb and be extremely sensitive to elevator inputs. Try moving the CG back a bit at a time. Lateral wing balance can help also like Splatter suggested. If the plane tends to roll out of a turn, add weight to the left wing panel. It it tends to roll into a turn (tuck and make your you know what pucker) add weight to the right wing panel. Just a few suggestions.

What LR-1 are you flying Budman?

Truckracer. I am flying the HairWild LR-1. You are wright I need to move some weight to the aft of the airplane. You see the H.W. LR-1 is made for a .30 size engine. But being the power hungry racer I am I went with the S.T. .40 with a Nelson pipe. She is fast in level flight ,but as soon as you put her on her side she wants to dive in to the ground. I did have 1 oz. of weight in the left wing to balance her lat. ,but after what SuperSplater told me. I took it out. have not had good weather down here to test it yet.

That Wild Hare LR-1 is a small airplane very similar in size to an old 15 sized QM. It has a little less than 300 sq. in of wing area! I suspect weight and wing area are your main problems. Do anything you can to put that thing on a diet and move things around rather than adding any additional weight if the CG needs to be moved. If you could find a good Nelson 15 QM motor, I bet you would be happier with that in the nose than the 40 now in there and I bet you would go just as fast or faster.

Good luck and have fun!

Well if they can keep the overall weight down I guess that would be OK. But with that small wing I would think their turning ability would be limited.

I rely didn,t put this bird together to race. Just wanted to have a good time with something different. If I can get the CG wright I believe it will turn good. If I can,t then I,l be in the market for a 300 dollar Jett .30 or equivalent.

Well I finely got a chance to fly her again. She is much better in the turns now. What I did to solve this prob. was to move the battery as far back as I could. and to loose the one ounce of lead in the left wing. I don,t know if this has ever happen to anyone ells but just be for she was going to set down on the runway a gust of wind hit her on her side and caused her to cart wheel. Boy I,m begin to think this plane is curs. Oh well she is back to gether now and on Sunday I,l give her another go.

Not a lot going on here. I just got part of my left knee replaced and am trying to get it back into working shape I sold my last Nelson to Neon a few months back. I know I was never any good at 428 but I sure do miss it and my buddy Richard. I have been looking at the Wild Hare LR 1 for a while now. What do you thimk? It sure is pretty.
