I finally got my reactor, and I am putting a O.S. .70 4-stroke on it and was wondering what prop you guys would suggest on it.

I would try a 13x4 prop with that.

whats up guys!!! I have a couple of quick questions for yall!! First, What kind of weight are yall coming out at without gas in your plane and is this weight good for 3D? And also, the suggested weight range that Great Planes gives you, is that with or without gas in the plane? And finally, what is the best cg spot for 3D? I heard that you want it further aft than the recommendations. Any help is greatly apperciated!!!
Thanks, Josh

Mine came out at 6 LB-14 OZ, at 21.3 oz/ sq foot mine seems fine, I'm still getting used to flying it.
I have a U-CAN-DO 46 and I like the Reactor a lot better. The plane is very forgiving for having such a thin airfoil.
I am slowly increasing the control throws on the elevator.
I am using a Tower 75 for power and it has plenty, verticle out of sight in a hurry, Only had to add 2 oz under the tail.

I have an OS 70 four stroke on my Reactor and I tried an APC 13 x 6 and it was too much. I have found that the APC 12 x 8 works a whole lot better. It goes out of sight in a nanosecond ! ! ! If you're into 3D then the suggestion of an APC 13 x 4 should work just fine.

One problem that I have had with the Reactor is the placement of the radio antenna as suggested in the plans. I have a Futaba 9CAPS with a 6 channel FM receiver and my controls had a very slight jitter from both the right and left sides of the plane when first range checked. I flew it several times and got "hits", and then The next time I flew it with this problem, it dropped out at about a foot off the ground on landing and scuffed up the wheel pants on the asphalt. I range checked it again and it was significantly worse than the first time I range checked it. I have NOW taken the antenna OUT of the tube in the fuselage and run the antenna down the bottom and it works a WHOLE lot better. No interference and "hits" ! I think that the tube runs real close to those three tail servos and their connecting wires to the receiver and there definitely is a potential interference problem here. At least that has been my experience.

This is definitely the BEST flying plane that I have ! ! ! ! (I also own a Funtana 90 and an Extra 300S)

I had radio interference like you're talking about with a Twist that I had. I did the same thing as you mentioned and you're right. It's probably due to the ant. wire running right past the servos back there and picking up interference. Rats! I just moved mine to the tube after doing some mods to it. I'll having to check and make sure it's not interfering.

well it is built. I am disapointed to say that I have experienced the problem with the interference and just decided to run it under the plane like I do every thing else. I belive I am going to put a smoke system on it, it is undecided but want to.

I've found the same thing. I thought it would look better to have the ant. in the tube but I experienced to much glitching. It probably will work with some types of servos though.

Heey here's a question....... Rob's Reactor at the field today seems to fly great with the battery back by the servos and 3 little sticky lead weights on the tail (Saito 82 up front) BUT when rolling to inverted it still takes a fair amount of down elevator to hold it inverted.....? We're puzzled by this because the CG is already moved WAY back....

Thanks,

Ernie (don't quite have mine in the air yet)

My CG is as specified in the manual, and the plane flies great. But I also found that I need a fair bit of down elevator for inverted.

I'm not sure if I'm going to worry about it, given how well the plane flies. I may go to a smaller battery and try and move it rearward.

One thing I did notice is that the 3D rates specified in the manual aren't anywhere near enough for the elevator, but it's easy to get more.

I've now got almost 50 flights on my Reactor. I increased the elevator travel significantly from the suggest 3D rates in the manual. Flat spins are now truly flat, although I can't do climbing flat spins, I've never managed that on any plane I've owned.

Elevators are excellent with little or no wing rock, provided you are flying into a fairly stiff breeze. I think I may still need some more elevator travel, without a strong headwind wind, the plane won't do the elevator manuever.

Knife edge is wonderful. I planned on mixing out the coupling, I ended up not bothering for now, there is so little coupling.

Everything, apart from the tendency to tip over on takeoff/landings, is great. I love the fact that the Reactor has no tendency to want to snap, unless you want it to. I wish I could say the same about my Showtime 90, that plane can bite you. Even my Somenzini 72" Yak isn't so forgiving as the Reactor.

My OS 55 AX is broken in now, tons of power. I was worried about the covering as the clear layer tends to separate from the colour layer. I have had to glue done a few edges, but overall it is holding up well, and the plane still looks great.

I like the plane so much I filled out the suggestion form at the Great Planes website asking them to build larger versions of the Reactor.

I would like to suggest a modified landing gear setup for the Reactor too.
