Go with the Reactor, I have had both. The X50 was a great flying airplane once I did the LE mod, but the Reactor is a great flying airplane right out of the box. I would recommend the graphtech gear though.....

Ditto to JoeyCoats comments. Other than the delamination and the landing gear flaw (both solvable), I'd choose the Reactor over the Funtana. But that's again because I like the kind of flying I get out of the reactor over the Funtana.

What are you guys using to get the muffler in the right place with the saito 82a? Is it the "right angle adapter" i need to order?

Hi Glen, I bot two of those 90 degree adapters, but decided to just use a 30 degree + / - curved Saito pipe from my Saito 100. I have heard those 90 degree adapters break with the vibration so I'm just being cautious. I think most of the problems have been with the 1.00 and not necessarily the .82. I mounted my .82 with the valve covers at about the 7:00 position as you look straight at the nose. The muffler just sticks out the bottom of a large cooling opening in the bottom of the plane's cowl. Sorry, no pictures as the enginen is out of the Raptor being installed in a profile.

If you go to page 22, post 537, you can see how I set mine up with the Saito 90 degree header. It is tight but it works.

Hey guys am curious how many of you have used the Graph tech gear for your reactor. I have mine set at the reccomended CG and it is so tippy on the grass Most landings I end up nosed over. I am using the OS FL-70 whcih is 20% lighter than the Surpass 70 with the same power. Also wondering if anyone has some pics of this gear installed as there is none at Graph Tech's website.

just flip the stock gear around so it sweeps forward, and theres no way it will nose over again.. wheel pants still work fine ..problem solved ..unless u gotta have the graph tech stuff... give it a try you'll be happy u did. i installed mine that way from the get- go and its never nosed over.... cause i hate that...just wish the snow would melt and the temp would go above 20 so's me and the plane could go play

I have mine flipped around and it works flawlessly. I also like the way it flexes, it's almost like having shock absorbers!

I had tried mine backwards and they worked just fine. I decided to add a spare set of gear from a U Can Do and that worked the best of all. I had to make a block for the inside bottom of the fuse but it didn't take long to make it and looked great and worked perfect. Turning the stock gear around to face forward looked goofy to me. Eventually I dumb thumbed the plane into the ground but before I crashed it I had it set up perfect and if I didn't have too many planes already I would probably get another one. I would suggest to any going to fly won of these with a nitro motor that they clear coat it with Topflite LustreKote. It will help a lot to keep the nitro from eating the substandard coating off of the plane. LustreKote

Hi Guys,
I have a question about this plane. I went to the LHS today and looked at one of these planes, It looks great.
The question though is that the one I looked at had a stated wingspan of 54" with a wing area of 702 sq in. Therfore smaller than the plane being currently listed on the Tower hobbies site and the factory specs on the Greatplanes site.
Am I missing something or did the specs on the plane change since it was originally offered.

thx Dave

Good catch! My box said the same thing as did the Tower website like you said. My manual though shows what I believe are the proper specs for this kit. You can download the manual of Tower's site to see that info. You got me curious so I checked the length and it was 59". They must have changed it as it went to production or there was some clerical error. I will check the wingspan the next time I put it together. I got the rest of my stuff unpacked from the move so I can get this finished up. I am anxious to get my CF gear mounted.

Well I flipped the gear on my Reactor and it works great. Not really a big fan of the looks though. I think i will eventually replace it with the graphtech stuff though just for the looks alone. At least now I can take off, Land, and taxi with no problems.

I wasn't a big fan of how they looked flipped around either. The plane just looks better with them swept back but the tipping over is much worse. I did get around to mounting the CF gear tonight. They turned out pretty nice once I got all the holes drilled. She is finally coming together.
