Hey Zip Elevator servos: Reactor requires two elevator servors mounted in front of the horizontal stab offset, staggered or tandom since the pattern like fuse narrows at that location. I seem to remember one person in this thread coverted theirs to use one. Many needed more weight in the tail so having the two helped. Others pushed their batteries in the tail.
Engine position: The plane is designed to have the engine inverted. Some have mounted thier horizontal. It took a little work to get the bugs out but I mounted a Saito 82 inverted. The new 55AX in my opinion would be the 2 stroke equal that works event better inverted. I preferred the Saito since it allowed me to mount the tank at CG with the use of a small header tank. The Saito can draw fuel from ~ 12" where 2 stroke usually needs so assistance to affectively run the full range.
The pics I uploaded are old but at the time I turned the gear around to avoid the one issue with this design; the landing gear if positioned as directed tend to cause nose overs.
I later installed the Graphtech gear for weight reduction. Turning the gear around is cheaper and will do but I had two dead sticks on a tail wind, couldn't get it to turn around quick enough. With the factory gear I damaged the centrally mounted gear damaging the fuse. Did the similar from greater height with the graphtech and no damage all around.
I have this plane at the ready since its small, has a wide flight envelope and can be setup with Elevons/Ailevons and flapperon for even more fun.
Oh and iron down, glue, clear coat the covering. It delaminates quite a bit.

Thanks for the info guys. I to am looking for something small to throw in the truck to take to the field on those not so desirable days when you don't want to drag out the big stuff.

I don't recall a specific thread for this model setup in a E version. Most just add their brief comments in this or the build thread.
Have at it. I'd love to redo this model in a E version but I'd probably go with the 50-65-450 to turn a larger prop rathr than the recommended 42-60-800. The cost of the batteries is what still holding me back. How much are the Lipos costing now? Post your E setup or at least let us know if you start a new thread.

I Ordered the stock setup noted above exept i ordered the flight power 4250 3s Lite packs at $124 a piece from tower. I ordered 4 (ouch) to make 2 packs . but plan on doing more than 1) 40 size electric. The flight power packs in 6s configuration is only 3 oz more than the recomended 3300 packs. I will try to shave that 3oz somewhere else hopefully.
I'm wanting to convert this plane to electric myself. I was thinking about taking 4 of the Loong Max 2250, 25C packs , 2 connected in series, and then those 2 connected in parallel to 2 more packs connected in series. Those packs are about $30 each. So that would be $120 in LiPos for one flight. I'd like to know what some other people have done.
I have an OS 46 on it right now and it's not enough power to be fun for me so I was thinking of going electric instead of going with the Saito.

Well I did the math on those packs. The great planes packs are 9.5 oz that they recommend so that is 19 total. those packs you are talking about will be after converting grams to ounces 27.23oz so your penalty will be 8.23 oz over the great planes 3200 packs. that is a half of a pound. plus to balance the packs you will have to buy 4 chargers and 4 balancers so there goes the money you saved. unless you want to do one at a time and spend about 2 1/2 hours between flights.
I'm not worried about charging them. Two Cell Pro's charging at 3C wouldn't be too bad but I hadn't done the math on the weight. 8 oz is a pretty big weight hit. I already have two of those packs that I use for other planes so I would only have to buy two more to get in the air.
