That's a real sanitary engine installation. How are you going to keep the fuel residue from getting inside your hatch area? I covered the hatch after I was finished with transparent yellow covering leftover from a previous plane.

I lost my plane due to a deadstick in a low hover last week. Battery leaving the rear mounting location took out all the formers up to the middle of the wing. Basically the fuse was in two parts after hitting the ground from around 8 feet, it hit on the spinner and muffler first. I gave what was left to a club member as spare parts since the rest of it was unscathed. If anyone needs a CF wing tube ($25 shipped) let me know.

jon595,

I never really looked at it as being an issue with fuel getting into the fuse but when I install the hatch today I'll take a look at the fit. I never read anywhere in this thread about fuel getting into the fuse through the bottom hatch.

Just throwing my $.02 in there. It won't be an issue until you take the hatch out and see that it is all fuel soaked in there. That area and around the firewall where the fuel lines stick through. There must of been at least 5 of these at the field last summer and I corrected all the flaws that I saw.

I finished my Reactor today and all that is remaining to do is get my new Airtronics RDS8000 2.4 in. I'll just need to install the receiver and battery and program it and it's ready to go. I decided not to add the decals on the wings as they just looked cheap and the sheet was messed up anyway. I did add a Dubro exhaust deflector that will help keep some of the exhaust off the plane. The plane looks good and feels light. I just hope that the covering doesn't start coming off to soon, that would be a bummer if the plane turns out to be a good flyer as everyone has posted.

Zippi,
Plane looks great Bro! Hurry up and get that thing in the air. I got rained out today and I was really looking forward to thrashing on the Reactor. You are going to love this plane. Use 3D elevator on the ground, even with the Graphtech gear. I fly off grass though so it may not be an issue if you are asphalt.

Man.......I wish I could get this thing in the air. I'm waiting on a new radio and next weekend I'll be out of town.....Damn the bad luck. I fly off of a concete runway and I'll probably only need about 10' of that .

Zippi,
See how kolarshooter is using the exhaust deflector to get the goop away from his plane. I used covering. Use something or it will get in.

I see you added the extension!

Hey gang a few engine choice questions and setup questions....

I have read most of this thread yesterday after seeing a guy at our field fly a reactor that was an electrical set up. I am pretty sure that I am going to go with a saito, now I am trying to decide the one to go with. I know it will be either a 82 AAC, or the 91 Special AAC.

This will be my fist saito engine. Is the 91 to much of an over kill on this plane, or for a few dollars more a good buy for this airframe.

I would also kick the idea arround for a ys 63

Setup:

I have noticed that some of you are not using the kit equipment for control surfaces. I know that this is common in the arf world. What are some of the linkages that you guys are using, control rods etc...

I am sport flying now and just starting to get into the world of 3d flying. My questions on the engine choice is what would be best for me to get started on for this type of flying....

2daysoff,

I got a lot of good ideas in this thread about the Reactor and using the Saito 82 was one of them. I was going to use the OS 70 and found out that it just wasn't the rocket power I was looking for. I've had 3 of the Saito 82's and they are a very nice engine and reliable. As far as linkage, I used all 4-40 rods and the pic shows the rest.

So where is everyone ordering the carbon fiber landing gear from??
They look SWEET!

And am I safe to do mild 3D with the stock kit linkages?
If not, where to order some end links for the 4-40 rod? I can get the 4-40 locally.
