I used Hitec 225MG all around, and still had to widen the aileron servo holes slightly. There should be enough material to put in standard servos, though. I'm trying to keep mine lite, and was going to use one of my old standard Futaba servos for the throttle, but it was almost 2oz, so I picked up a Hitec 55 last nite at the LHS for the throttle servo. Got my engine mounted and the cowl roughed out for holes; just need to finish the cowl and install throttle servo and canopy. Hope to have some pics in a few days.

Hey guys, been following the thread and trying to catch up. I bought this plane last night and got most of it together. Here is my set up...

OS 61FX, standard muffler

Futaba S9650 Digital Mini's in the ailerons
Hitec 6635HB Digitals in the elevator
JR 8311 Digital in the rudder
Standard on throttle for now

Running on coolpower 30% Heli fuel

Only question I have right now is with the engine mounting. Is the motor suppose to be 4-5/16th away from the firewall or 4-15/16ths??? I haven't started cutting out the cowl yet but I have it right now at 4 5/16ths and noticed the little mishap in the manual showing two different figures.

I'll have HD video and photos coming soon after the build is finished . This thing should be a missle.

Shortman,

I beleive it's 4 15/16 if memory serves me correct. I think my .82 would have been pretty close to the firewall at the 4 5/16. That OS 61FX should hall the mail for ya.

It's posted some where in this thread too, but 4 15/16" is correct. I mounted my little ol OS50 at that dimension, and the front of the mounting lugs are flush with the end of the mount!

Yeah okay, I see that it won't quite make it. Looks like I'll be making some new holes

Okay, new updates...

I decided to go all out after all... well, just about, minus some carbon fiber here and there.

Here is where I'm at

OS 61FX
Futaba 9650 Mini Digitals on ailerons
Hitec 6635HB Digitals on Elevator
Jr 8311 Digital Servo for the rudder (figured it would need weight in back hence the big digitals went in the back)

JR standard for throttle

Went ahead and bought a 7.4v 20c Thunderpower Li PO with Quark 3 amp BEC for my battery power .

All that's left to do is program the radio, finish up the cowl and throttle servo and should be flying by tomorrow!

Pictures and video to come.

Well, over the last few days put in 5 flights in windy and still conditions. Things I've noticed ...

My plane is nose heavy (so take that into considerations, along with no cowl on for right now)

The plane has some coupling in knife edge, my thinking is the CG being loaded in the front along with no cowl has some effect on this, so until I get the cowl on and the new battery in place way back in the tail, I'll be using a little rudder to elevator mixing to correct for this.

Another thing, was that yes, while landing, the plane does tend to nose over, although all my landings have been near perfect, I'm flying off some tall grass, the wheel pants grab the grass and slowly tilt the plane. Not a big deal and my first two landings were greased in... 2 for 5, ehh not that bad. Another thing that will improve with the CG being in the correct place.

Hover was a breeze with this plane, more then enough aileron and elevator to control the plane. Flat spins suffered due to the CG being way to far forward, and as did the waterfalls.

Overall the plane is a blast to fly. It can hold a line very well and I was able to do some IMAC sequences with it without too much hassle. Can't wait to get it dialed in and flying just right.

Had low rates on at 60% of max throws (not sure on measurements, will get them tomorrow) and 3D rates at max deflection on all surfaces. The plane took 1 click of right aileron to level out in flight.

Hey all....I've been eyeing a reactor at my LHS and I just got through reading the entire thread! Before I started reading I was thinking of putting in a OS 55AX. I've just about moved exclusively to four-strokes, and I hate butchering up a cowl more than necessary, so I think I've been swayed to the Satio 82.

Thanks for all of the great inputs! I think I'll be all the wiser when I start my build!

I'm new here, I just get the reactor and a local special combo with the saito 72.
Did some one use this engine? Will make a nice hover?
thanks
Robert.

Freeair, I don't think a rear-exhaust would fit very easilythere would have to be a pretty tight s-bend to get it down and under firewall. See my pics of the pipe in the tunnel. The pipe can't go straight back thru the firewall, because that's where the tank sits. Jeff

BTW, I maidened my Reactor Sunday. Got about a tank and a half thru it, with 2 deadsticks! Thought I had my old OS50 running pretty good, but I think my carb is worn out (I don't have the proper o-rings on the low speed needle) and the LS needle won't hold position. I'm about ready to chuck it, but don't have the funds to switch to the TT FS75 I want just yet. Currently on a search for a replacement carb for my OS. Plane does fly quite nicelymy CG is right at recommended, and it is very docile. Snaps aren't real clean with this CG, so I'm sure as I get more comfortable (and get a reliable motor!), I'll move it back.
