Got my gear and tube in today... Nice...

The rit dye did NOT take... Spray painting ahead...

and the warp I thought was gone from the elevator is still there... I thought I had it taken out, but not so much and I have already installed them on the stab... GRRRRRRRR about a 1/4 inch offset.... any ideas would be great....

I guess I spoke to soon on my luck.... but I did get a sweet deal on my engine that should get here by Tuesday...

MaSt0RaS, Stop sending me e-mails. I will not respond to you via e-mail.

READ THIS THREAD: There's TONS of information about the Reactor. As recently as post #922 (the page before this one) this topic was discussed again.

SEARCH THIS THREAD: At the bottom of this page, on the right side, you'll see a box with the words "Search this thread" in it. Type the word "Saito" in the box (replacing the words "Search this thread" ) Then, carefully move your curser over to the little bubble next to the box which says "Search." "Left click" your mouse one time. You have just begun your search.

Good luck!

Well, on another note, I'm back for round 2! Got my Reactor in the air again yesterday, thanks to a new fuse from Edge540l, and got my OS50 running pretty good, thanks to purchase of another OS50 parts engine with a good carb. Put 4 flights on it yesterday, and I'm really liking this plane! After some experimentation, I have found my prop for this engine comboa Xoar 12x4 works really well. I had tried an APC 12.25x3.75, plus same prop cut down(accidental prop tip strikecut & rebalance ) to 11.5"; tried a Master Airscrew 11x5, and then the Xoar. The APC's had about the same rpm, but the wooden Xoar has much better throttle response, due to it being much lighter. I'm getting about 13,300 with this prop at my 5100' elevation, so it'll do for now. I can get some hover, but punch out isn't really there. Probably will get a Saito .82 this spring if funds allow, since I got another cowl with my replacement fuse.

Cowboy, Your canopy looks the same as mine... Nice color choice!!!! Glad to hear that you are up and running. I have mine just about finished up, been breaking in my saito 82. all I have left to do is a final balance and its off to the field on Tuesday. So far I am pleased with this engine. Takes some adjusting of the screws at first, but its breaking in nicely.

Got 4 more good flights in yesterdaygotta like this November weather in Wyoming! Tried a couple more props for grins: 11"x4" wood Top Flight got me another 1000 rpm to 14,400, but didn't have the pull in the air. Tried an old 12"x6" wood I had, and it was a little too much for my .50. Went back to the 12"x4" Xoar, and am pretty happy with this. I can pull vertical, stop, and then punch out and continue up. Probably not nearly as well as some 4 strokes, but for my skill level at this point, I'm pretty happy. Next step is to move the CG back some. I'm right at recommended, or maybe 1/4" forward of that, so I'm gonna try moving it back a little to help flatten out my flat spins and help entry and holding in hover, as it usually wants to fall forward.

I picked up an awesome bargain from a buddy... Got a finished MD 500 body for a 90 sized heli. It's complete with custom lighting system, mini guns, and rocket tubes.
Also got a Great Planes 80" Spacewalker with new standard servos, scale tires, and a Saito 91 on the front. It is a beautiful plane for an ARF. I only paid $300 for all of it!! =)

I picked up the deal with the intent on using the saito for my Reactor.
Is there a Saito 91 made before the "91 special"?? How can I tell?

I am about to upload some pics of the plane and the motor.

Can anyone running a saito 91 give me any tips for C.G. with this large motor? ..and should I move my radio gear around to allow mounting the fuel tank under the C.G.??

Thanks

EDIT:

Oh, has anyone running the new Keleo pitts muffler had a chance to shoot some video??

And how do I "attach" pictures to this post?

Well x-mas came and Santa (wife) brought me a new GP Reactor. Spent 3 days off and on putting it together. I went with with a new Saito 72 and replace the stock tail gear with a sylvan. I didn't have the funds for new servos so I swapped out JR 537's that were in my twist. After installing my radio gear I noticed that my Hitec Prism 7x didn't have mixing functions for dual elevator servos and of course the local hobby stores were out of servo reversing harnesses. When I thought all was lost I posted in the forum for help. Well after a quick reply I read that JR and Futaba servos travel in opposite directions, so I tested it out an " wa-la " worked like a charm. Went to my local hobby store and was able to get a close match on the speed of the JR to a Futaba servo. Installed and everything works great. I was able to balance her at 4 3/4 buy putting the battery all the way to the rear on the top where the canopy opens. I was able to maiden her on Sunday in 9 degree weather (6 flights in all), which was a bit cold on the hands, especially when you mix up the carb and exhaust lines and try to fill up the tank and have the glow fuel go all over the hands (took 20 min to figure out the problem). This is my third plane the last being a twist 40. All she needed was a few click of elevator and aileron trim and she flew straight as an arrow. I am very happy, the Reactor is much more stabler in the air. I did have problems with the stock gear flexing and bending down quite a bit as well as it wanting to nose over. So I'll have to sort out those issues. I will eventually switch over to digital servos little by little, but for now it works. Well i just wanted to share my story

Well I got mine up today, and it does seem to fly nice
But hard to tell too much as it was windy
It has a ys 63, 5 jr 821 servo's, and the carbon gear.
It came in at just over 5 pounds
