I have the Y harness and changed the servos back to the standard configuration before I tried to set this up. I have never set up a plane with a split elevator before. HELP!

If you have a reversing y-harness and both servo arms are pointing straight down, you should be getting fairly even travel in the elevator halves. If not you may have an issue with one of your servos. Let me know what you come up with and I'll try to help

Celidon, going back to post #152 where you show the pictures, if you are still using the non-stock angle on the right hand ele servo, Bluehawk is right. Both servos have to be set up with the same exact geometry to get equal throws. With enough channels on a computer radio, you might be able to correct that, but then you could use the stock arrangement too.

Why not use the stock setup, but with a Y cord if you are limited with your radio like I am.

But it does have to be a REVERSING y-harnes or one will go up and the other down

I have the harness and all servo arms pointing down. Could a difference in the length of the servo arms cause this issue?

Whooops Celidon, I missed that you changed back to stock configuration since post #152.

Yes, different length servo arms would cause different amounts of travel at the elevator halfs, unless you selected holes in each servo arm that were the same distance from the center of the servo output shaft. Why would you have different length servo arms?

Hang in there, we'll get them moving together yet. Let me know what you find if you talk to Bluehawk.

My Reactor probably won't be ready to go until later in the spring.....

Yeah, I've seen that, but it's kind of lame though compared to what I think this plane is capable of.

Guys, there is another way but you have to give up the Y-harness! Just run each elevator servo separately to your receiver DIRECT and put them in the #2 and #5 for a Futaba (or #7 slot, I forget exactly which one for the elevator) and then you can adjust each one's travel and direction. This is what I had to do on my Funtana to get them equal.

tkna, You are exactly right, I have a Futaba 9CAP and that is exactly what I do. You can adjust the subtrim and endpoints and get them perfect. You didnt mention which Futaba radio that you have. I had one of their 6eax and dont believe I could get this to work. Also a friend of mine had a 7CAP and he could get it to work except the trim didn't work correctly. The 9CAP fully supports this function and anything else that you will ever want to do. If you have a 7CAP or other Futaba radio and got this to work correctly you are the man to help these guys. I have to say my Futaba 9CAP is the best RC investment that I have made. It is well worth the money.

bluehawkbm, I also have a Futaba 9CAPS and it IS the answer to a lot of set-up issues. Your suggestion to check in on that website is an excellent one as the instruction manual that comes with the Futaba 9CAPS is too difficult for me. Also, I purchased a manual called: RADIO Programming Futaba's 9CA by Harry Higley and it is MUCH easier to decipher and set-up my 9CAPS radio. You guys are on the right track with your set-up with the Y harness and I wish you all the luck in the world in resolving it. I have a Futaba Y harness with the servo reverser around here somewhere that I was working with but I gave up. I know it can be done but my patience level is lower than yours.[8D]

I've been looking for a throw in the car and fly plane and this looks like a winner.
I'll be using a Tower 75 for power, I have one that needs a fresh home.
I'll use a 12 1/4 x 3 3/4 APC prop like I have in the past (turns 15000 + rpm's).
This prop gives instant throttles responce and pulls my EXTREME 330 verticle FAST.

WOW! Sounds like more than adequate power. :) What does that engine weigh? Other than having to juggle components a bit to get the proper CG and being sure to mind the left stick, it should be a helluva combination. If you proceed, please report in and let us know how it goes.

Weight is 23.0 oz with muffler, close to most other engines with comparable output.
OS FS70 II = 22.1 oz
OS FS ultimate W/pump = 17.7 oz
OS 46 AX = 17.2 oz
The nice thing obout too much power is it is there when needed, this model probably will need throttle management anyways.
I will also be using standard size servos on everything except the trrotle, and 4-40 pushrods.

That certainly sounds like a winning combination.....and the engine weight is not too far out of line with the OS 70, the engine depicted in the manual. Please share your results when you get it going. There are precious few flight reports out for this plane and mine is sitting patiently waiting for a break in the weather. :)

Hi Zeng62!

What kind of flying are you planning with your Reactor? For 3D-flying it is best to keepp weight low. The O.S. FS 70II is already on the heavy side compared to Yamada and Saito, or a two-stroke. Plus he additional weight of standard radio-gear it turns out pretty heavy for a small plane. Just my $0.02. If you want to save money go with Hobbico's 35 servos.

I have ordered a Reactor and I am going to use a Lipo-battery with Powerbox Digi-Switch to save weight. JR-medium servos, R700 and a light engine, YS63S or O.S. 55

What's the weight of the lipo/regulator combo you're planning? I used Fut 9650's in the tail and Hitec 5245's in the wing, a 720 maH niMh for the RX(2.5 ounces) and YS .63. My all up weight is 90 ounces or 5.63 pounds. I was hoping to be between 5.25 and 5.5, so I was a bit disappointed. However, I haven't flown the thing yet and everyone seems to think it will be fine at 5.63. Do yo have other weight saving plans in mind?
