Unfortunately, you can't go more than 2S lipo on the 7700 so if you are trying to go fast, you'll need the 5700 on 3S. Other than that, 2S is great.

I use the maxamps lipo's 4000Mah en 6000 Mah and both will fit. I also use the Team Orion Platinum 4800 and that one is the best for me , great lipo pack , just a little more expensive but worth it for me.

MM 7700 runs at 100amps constant so you will want a battery that is over 100amps constant. 2s lipo . best cheap one is http://www.maxamps.com/proddetail.php?prod=Lipo-5000-74-Pack&cat=13 .. also the new traxxas velineon brushless system is supposed to be awesome. 70mph+ with a 8000mah 3s lipo!!

Guys, I had my MM5700 motor up to 170 degF tonight. Even brushing the can with my finger was painful. If you can hold your finger on it for five seconds, it ain't even close to hot - gear up!. Still, though, get a temp gun.

Yeah, pretty much. High motor temps mean you are using the motor properly. The motor should be 155-190 degF after the run. If you're below that, you aren't using all the power the motor can provide. Above that, and you are damaging the motor and operating way beyond the efficient region.

ok I have read most of this thread and I have a question doing drag races 2-3 second bursts in a parking lot would I be able to run a 7700 with a 3s for extra power. I would put this in a TC4 with a graphite chassis and I have a spectrum radio for my turmoil so I will be using that. I am just trying to get as much power as I can. I will try to get some video of the guys that I will be running against.I am a dirt/nitro guy so I am kinda lost here.

The reason you don't want to run 3s lipo with the 7700 is you are likely to blow up the rotor if it exceeds 65k rpm for a certain amount of time. I know you said 2-3 second runs, but I think the abuse will take its toll over time... Interesting idea though.

Castle Creations rate the CM36 motors for 65 000RPM, so running 3S LiPo on a MM7700 ( 77 000 - 84 000 RPM)will push the motor way past that. Quick way to void a warantee.

well lets just say we arent racing just for fun so I am not worried about the waranty. I would not try to return something I know I am pushing past spec if something did happen. if it lasted for 3-4 months I would be happy with that you can just buy the motor right?

hey my brother just bought a 7700 kv mamba max and we put it in his rustler. we were using 6 cells and when we accelerate it like has a delay before it starts. if you floor it right away, it like sits there and stutters for a second. do you think it is the batteries?
we just ordered these batteries any good?duratrax 7 cell 4200

It does that becuase the batteries cant handle the huge amp draws. There nothing you can do besides go lipo or just dont pin it from a stop.
