Rc_drifter36 -> Drifting Questions (7/3/2006 9:20:05 AM)

Ok before i get flamed, yes i have read through and saw that there are other posts like this. But i want a response directly for me to me.. thanx

Ok here we go. Ive been rc'ing for about 3 years and im pretty good at racing. thing is, I was into 1/8 scale trucking.. well i know alot about nitro/electric rc cars but im a bit stumped about what to do with the drifting scene. ok the main questions are, what is the best car? but then again which is better nitro or electric? im wanting to do high speed drifting, not really the close cornering drifting. budget isnt really a concern, but i dont want to spend more than 250.00 if there is a really good setup for more than that let me know... thanks in advance all :-)

heretic_666 -> RE: Drifting Questions (7/3/2006 9:47:41 AM)

There is no best car, any 4wd touring car will do. Electric and nitro both have advantages and disadvantages, but electric is more common and easier.
If you wanna get drifting quoick-smart, go for the Tamiya Expert Built TT-01D, which comes complete with a radio set, batteries, drift tyres, ball bearings, oil-filled shocks and I think a charger.
For high speed drifting, drift radials are the go.

That's pretty much it, but of course you already knew all this because you searched through the forums, right?

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXKSG4&P=7 so is this a full kit?

Rc_drifter36 -> RE: Drifting Questions (7/3/2006 10:05:34 AM)

$135.00 seems aa bit cheap,, than again im used to nitro

48chebbie -> RE: Drifting Questions (7/3/2006 1:17:52 PM)

that is the kit,although you will need a radio. if you have been racing,and you are a complete R/C addict,like most of us,you probably have a spare 2-channel radio lying around. this kit has the esc with it as well. paint the body,through in you radio,and a good stick pack,and slide away. you should be in the whole set-up for $200.00 or less.

em x 6 racer -> RE: Drifting Questions (7/3/2006 5:55:47 PM)

If you have enough spare parts lying around I would go with a Yokomo DP. But you are gonna need motor, esc, radio, and servo. But they are a better. I have both a tt-01 and a yokomo.

Rc_drifter36 -> RE: Drifting Questions (7/3/2006 8:13:57 PM)

but the TT-01D will make a good drifter right?

Rc_drifter36 -> RE: Drifting Questions (7/3/2006 8:43:30 PM)

another thing is, how long can i drive and drfit before i have to go back inside and charge the batteries?

ROYjovero -> RE: Drifting Questions (7/3/2006 9:13:02 PM)

Depends on battery capacity, motor, gearing, tire choice, and throttle manipulation. As a rule of thumb, using ABS and other plastic tires on a properly geared car, you can expect 1 minute of runtime per 100maH of battery capacity. For example, I get about 30-40 minutes of runtime when I use my GP 3300maH batteries in any of my cars when set up for drift.

and its expensive too lol

RC-Drift UK -> RE: Drifting Questions (7/4/2006 3:00:16 PM)

The best car is usually the one you have :D

High speed drifting is best with nitro and uber hard foams (read brick)

Rc_drifter36 -> RE: Drifting Questions (7/7/2006 10:21:12 AM)

ok well would the "Team Associated TC4 RTR Touring Car" make a good first 1/10th scale eletric drifter?

em x 6 racer -> RE: Drifting Questions (7/7/2006 10:26:05 AM)

I recommend the TT_O1 its been great to me so far. Haven't broke anything yet. I'll post up a vid if you want to see it.

Auslide -> RE: Drifting Questions (7/8/2006 12:24:58 AM)

TT-01 pwn all.

It is the ideal Drift Chassis.

No exposed gearing and parts support is pretty much global..

TT-01 is also a breeze to build and maintain..

beau69 -> RE: Drifting Questions (7/8/2006 12:34:34 AM)

hey, im sorta new to this dirftin **** n was wonderin if i convert my nitro car to awd n slapped a set od drfit tyres on it, would that be sufficient? i can currently drift iit, just not with a great deal of controll. at the moment it is off the road in need of fixing. lately i have benn usinig my electric car for drifting but it lack the umph. what would be the best type of race battery for my car? aye assitance would be greatly apprecitated

cheeers[8D]

Auslide -> RE: Drifting Questions (7/8/2006 4:10:22 AM)

Yes, I cant see why you couldnt drift the Nitro if you made it an AWD, you would just need a Really Big Slippery Surface to slide it on.. Drift Slicks and Drift radials are more the weapons of choice for Nitro drifting....

Could you provide a little more info on Your electric car??

This would help us in helping you get the best out of it as Electric is the " Preffered Method" of drift.

beau69 -> RE: Drifting Questions (7/8/2006 7:55:48 AM)

old and slow as hell, its a model engine hrt. its bout 4-5 years old. currently runnin taped wheels which are too hard to controll, the car keeps sliding out but it doesnt have a vary high top speed. my nitro car has been slightly upgraded to a thunder tiger pro abc motor currently runnin 20% nitro mix fuel.
