BACKGROUND:

A buddy at the field has a 120" or so aeroworks yak 54 powered by 3W 150 twin, about a $6,000 investment plus the hauler. After a few outtings, he recognized the need and did the bad thing. Roger, come fly this thing. Talk about love at first flight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, gotta have one. Cant get something that big in the Outback, so start checking things out. Sounds like QQ's stuff is good, so I order one. It arrives 3 days ago as promised. Quality is better than average, a few snivles here and there, admit I am very picky.

A LITTLE STRANGE?

Gotta get this one perfect. Drag out adjustable crutch, level in all 4 orientations. Secure the Yak on same, get out the modified robarts meeters with a "Smart tool" digital attachement, accurate to 0.01%
Right side:
Canopy line 0.0.
Rt. wing + 0.6.
Rt elevator +0.2.
Left canopy line 0.0
Left wing +0.2
Left elevator-0.3.
FIREWALL: HONEST, WITH 4 CHECKS -1.7. Easy fix.

Replaced the smart tool with the robarts standard meeter, everything checks within 1/2% except firewall. So I start building. Now I am finishing hinging, about 1-2 days to being ready for engine.

THE RUB:

Ok, gettng close to needing the engine to install and CG. Hate OS and Fatuba for same reason as GM and their diesel Cad. Alternates, Moki 180-210, YS 140, or ST 3000 or Sato 180. I want this to be a gasser so I can aford to fly it as much I think I will.

The Evolution 26 at 2.05 lbs seems to be ideal in size and weight, the 35 jumps to 3.25lbs. The real question here is the 26 strong enough to pull you out of trouble, and I get into trouble more than the average bear. How many of you guys will even be alive at 71, much less flying (trying)3-D?

QuiQue's Aircraft Co. needs to stand up and finish their testing as alluded to elsewhere in this forum, otherwise you are no better than the rest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Evolution 26 is perfect for IMAC, OK for 3D. If you want a rocket type pull out, evolution 26 is not your answer, YS 1.4 and Moki 1.80 would be good options. YS 1.40 will give you the best performance.

Thank you,
Reza

You probably have seen it, but there is a video on QQ site running the 26, it seems slight on power from what I saw. I have a saito 180 & it pulls really well but you want gas.

i finished my 73 with a 3W 28cc last night and plan to fly it this weekend. if you ca wait i should have a flight report in a coulple days. i have had great results with the OS 160 on my 72" QQ yak, awsome power and a light weight set up. i know how you feel about not wanting to use a brand due to past performance i feel the same way about hitech servos. even though a lot of people have good luck with them i have had some bad luck and don't trust them in my planes.

I am also thinking of getting one of these, and I have been running the PERFECT gas motor for it..... in my WH Baby Edge.... a Brillelli 40cc.... it is surprisingly light, being on a par with the the Evolution 26, and clearly has more guts... turns a 19 x 8 near 8K, and NX 20 x 8 at 6500. It would have enough to make the plane really perform, I think.

You will not beat the PRICE, Performance, or customer service. Scott Ellingson is the builder/seller/advisor on these motors, and is very committed to his customers' needs. He is poco242 on RCU...
