I just have a plane jane Trek 4300.... they say I can't get disc brakes for it but it has all the mounts... all I need are the wheels and hardware right?

Yeh you need the disc brakes and rims with the discs on them

hey everyone. im want to get a new bike this summer but idk what to get. ive benn riding for a while, but only on the walmart and target bikes that never last . so i was in dicks the other day just looking around and was checking out the bikes and i found one i liked. its the ironhorse. are those decent bikes. im mainly doing downhill and trail riding and ill prolly start getting into jumping. lol. i didnt have much time to look at the specs, but its full suspention, disc brakes, 18 speed i think, and it had some decent suspention travel. and the price was $740. would that be a decent bike for the money?? i was also looking at the specialized bighit, but that might be too much bike for me, and it pretty expensive unless i get a used one. heres a pic of the ironhorse.bike

thanks for the help

I have a Specialized Rock Hopper that I ride mostly down on the river bottoms in the Twin cities area. I have had it for about four years and like the way it performs for my taste. I would like to upgrade to disk wheels and disks brakes. The regular pull brakes don’t cut it when the rims get wet. Heres a picture of it in storage for the winter.

Its still a great bike.

Show off's. Ironhorse Sinister Exp. $900, but whatever. It's got a marzocchi fork (100mm) and a fox (crap) vanilla rear shock with I think 5 min of travel in the rear. Yeah, 27 speed shimano and I don't know anything else, but riding is hecka fun!!!

That's me. I love the look of the frame on this bike.

here's my rides, not DH/FR but what the heck, the Azonic DS1 (dual slalom) is my trial bike and the Trek is my custom* XC rig

* my first Trek frame was broken by me trialing with it! luckily i denied all knowledge and Trek replaced it with a better frame, then i chose all the components around it.
