OK, just a general question. I got this plane at an estate auction. It's got the motor mount for an engine already in it. Fiberglass body. 54 inch wingspan, full span ailerons. Taildragger. It appears to be pretty old, but in good shape. I'm curious to see if anyone recognizes it. I've just been calling it Big Red. The colors are the factory colors, they're part of the gelcoat. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. Been thinking about electric conversion. Although I do have a Como .51 engine sitting around here someplace too. THanks in advance for any help.

The nostril flairs are definitely indicative of a midget racer. But the wing looks too large. I have never seen this plane represented as a kit. I suspect it is a kit bash. Although the lines do remind me of an older Lanier. But Laniers had plastic fuselages reinforced with wood and foam wings.

thats exactly the way my snoop was built. (see my gallery) it was for sale at the hobby shop and had to buy it. its got the same sort of design and construction as yours. we also found out that it was custom built by a guy trying to make it a kit and sell it but it never gained popularity so there are only about 3 still around. (and we have one lol) we even got to meet the previous owner a few months after we bought it and built it.

they do look very simalar, but i still only think theyre the same TYPE of aircraft. in reply to your PM, mine is about 60-70 inches with a .91 two-stroke, so its a bit bigger, but still basically in the same class. when you do finish it up and get it flying, expect it to be very fast (ours tops out around 120-150) and expect that it wont want to slow down very easily. so start slowing down early on downwind, and when you turn on final drop it down close to the runway and hold it off to bleed off airspeed. other than that its a very fun airplane to fly and im sure yours will be too!
