Ok. Finally setlled permanently on my drift chassis, the Yokomo MR-4TC BD.

I'm getting it off Ebay pre-built, so I should be able to get it on the road sooner. I scrounged up a JR high-torque servo for my steering and got a Hitec DCX reveiver out of my Savage for it, which I'll use with my M11. I also ordered a custom battery pack from CheapBatteryPacks.com, a 6-cell IB 4200 flat pack, which I'll use in it. I'm going to get a Novak Velociti 5.5 brushless for it, and will, before I'm done setting up and building it, get a Yokomo S15 Kei Office Silvie body for it.
I've noticed that some, or a few, of the people on this forum have the MR-4TC chassis as well, and I was just wondering if there was anything I should do or watch out for. The only things I wonder about is if I should change the "extremely low drive gear ratio" and "race tuned springs", so I was wondering if anyone has any input on what tooth pinion and spur gears would work the best for me, and if there are any springs I should look at.
Thanks!

I personally run a BD and it's a great chassis. Yea, the drive ratio kinda sucks, but it also make gearing easier at the same time. The rear outdrives wear out quick so you might want to get some delrin outdrives, as I will be doing soon. Since you're planning on running the 5.5R, which is extremely overkill for drifting, and probably the chassis itself, I would consider the Team Bomber belts and main shaft.

like roy said about the brushless, overkill (i dont know from experience but im just agreeing with the man). maybe a brushed motor to suit?

Maybe I'd consider a brushless, but I'm also an extreme speed junkie, so I wanted it to double as a high-speed car, ad I thought a brushless would suit both my needs. But in case I want to look at some brushed motors, any suggestions? Also, can I have a link to Team Bomber's website?

I haven't incurred any problems with that chasis as of yet (only had it for about 6 months tho). the one thing I would suggest though is actually something really minor. I don't know how CT is, but in NY, NC, NJ, GA, and AL, it is seemingly IMPOSSIBLE to find replacement parts for the car. I don't mean anything major, but little stuff like scres or washers. Stuff you can usually get anywhere. But what I've noticed is that Yokomo makes very brand specific parts and it can become troublesome to find a replacement screw should you do some hard "street" drifting and need to replace something. So, just take that into account or order stuff in advance from Yokomousa.com. Outside of that, NO WORRIES MATE. It's been all slideways smiles for me.

If you want a brushed motor that has tons of speed, look into the Revolution motors, along with the Cobalt2 and Team Br00d motor lines. Just make sure you get an ESC that can handle it, or if you want to go brushless down the line, get the LRP Sphere Competition Brushed/Brushless ESC.

As for the Team Bomber belts, you can get them directly from Yokomo if you look for MR-4TC BD Masami Edition parts, or from RC Mart or Precision RC.

I honestly don't know. Yet. I will be buying two CO27 stock motors and possibly a couple Cobalt2 mod motors in a couple weeks.

I decided that I'm gonna be getting the Team Br00d CO27 motors. I've had great performances with my Fantom Monster Stock (the CO27 is the 2006 version of the Monster Stock), and I've heard great things about Team Br00d, so I put 2 and 2 together and decided to put the Br00d CO27's to the test. Sure, $42 for a brushed stock motor may seem steep to most, but I'm in it for the performance!

Well, the P2K, P2K2, Monster Stock, and CO27 are all different motors. They all have more than enough torque to do the job with plastic tires, but it's the RPM's that are different with each motor. This is how it goes with the max RPM...

[LOWER RPM]<------------>[HIGHER RPM]
P2K-----P2K2-----Monster Stock-----CO27

The P2K2 is possibly the most popular stock motor since it provides a good balance between torque and RPM. I prefer the higher RPM stock motors since I also race stock class.

No problem man. Sorry I was so harsh with the flaming earlier, but I'm sure you know what I was getting at.

And yea, I would say I know a thing or two about RC. But I definitely have a lot more to learn.

Also, the above "chart" is only for Trinity motors. I have no experience with Reedy, Atlas, or other stock motors yet.
