I wish it were that simple, but im really just looking for the biggest, baddest bigblock motor you can buy for an r/c car. Is the .30 VG it?

a 30VG eb modified would be all the power you should need

How about the Novarossi 528XR? This dude on here says its more powerful, but im not sure who to believe because the Nova is rated at 2.87 hp and the OS is rated at 3.0 hp so...?

The Novarossi .28 would blow the socks of the OS, no contest. The fact that you could probably buy and port two OS .30's for the price of the Novarossi is another matter...

Forget about HP ratings, each manufacturer test (or make up ) their figures on their own dynos, so as each dyno is different you can't compare them. What may regiester on OS' dyno may be completely different to what you get using another dyno.

.28, not .38 duh.

Novarossi .38? The 528XR is a .28.... And also, an r/c car magizine that I have at home also states that the OS .30 dyno'ed at 3.0 hp. But who knows right? So the question now is OS .30 VG EB modified, or Novarossi 528XR? Which is more powerful? C'mon guys lets hear it!

Ok, so I read my r/c car magizine last night and the .30 VG actually dyno'ed at 2.87hp, which is what novarossi claims it has as well. What about the .32 MTR? Anybody heard anything about these?

the .70 by thunder tiger is about the biggest.the next size up is .90. the .70 makes about 2.5 hp @16000 rpm stock, but ive heard with 30% and a modded sleeve you can get more.now before everyone barfs do the math on the power. thats 150+ in-oz. at that rpm...

Manufacturer horsepower ratings in model engines are about as usefull as utters on a bullfrog.

Every one of them is garbage and you can not go by what is printed by the manufacturers or distributers when it comes to hp. I have seen on several occasions in the race to capture customers, the ratings change as competition changes but the engines do not change. For example, I saw one distributers website advertise 1.2 hp for a particular engine and then a month later the exact same engine was rated much higher because a competing company came out with an engine in the same class with similar hp rating. Its all marketing garbage.
If you want a true hp figure then read what David Gierke publishes in the engine reviews of the rc car magazines, he has a proven dyno that works for these engines and he runs them all with the same procedures so the results can be compared becauise they are accurate and truthfull.

I have loots of engines, a couple of them come to mind about power ratings; I have a popular 50 size japaneese engine and a popular european 49 size engine that will run circiles around the 50 on every prop tested, same fuel, same day. Funny part is the popular japaneese 50 has a much higher hp rating than the european one. The european engine obviously has more horsepower and torque but is rated lower, why? Because the people who market the japaneese 50 here in the US have inflated the rating.

Run what has had good feedback from other modelers and racers, and do not rely on marketing in advertisements.
