Nope... I wouldn't do that to my Hornet, ha!!

My Hornet is blue.. not black!

But that's pretty easily achieved!! Many of the old Tamiyas share many parts and setup and you can put together some goofy combination easily!

Same tranny but without the odd motor mount so you use a regular size pinion (16T? Forgot..) Instead of the 10T goofy pinion... (since Hornet has small tires..)

has any-one ever broken a hornet off-road?

and is it a good bash-about off-road chassis (will it be good for on-road bashing?)

I broke my 1st Hornet in several places (from like 20 years ago) but normally it is pretty durable.

My re-release Hornet is holding up well so far on-road and off. The spikes on the rear tires won't last long on-road 'course...

Spots to pay attention to:

Spoiler/Wing mount - use rubber washers
Front body mount pole - use washer to beef up base
Chassis side wall near front strut - no much you can do there, just install the front shock with bumper stop according to manual and try not to bottom out on jumps!

What do you mean by using washer to beef up base?!

Show some pics of your Hornet!!

My first ever Hornet was ran over by a car in its first run... turned out to be a radio problem.. that's my first ever experience w/ a RC and it was not a good introduction!

I found that from eBay. You might be able to find it if you do some search!

Good luck!
