LOL I have some funny pics of my old hornet that I no longer have. I got it in a big lot that I bought. It was already bad but I admit I did rig the bumper and the "body clip" I remember someone in the tamiya frog thread used the term "long suffering" to refer to their tamiya which I liked...haha oh man had this thing ever been through the ringer...
hmmm let's see what the extensive mods were....parts tree and high performance wire bumper...electrical wire nut body clip on the front...threaded rod and nut body post/clip on the rear...totally balded front& rear tires, oh and the best part, different sized rear shocks lmao.. I've still got that old trinity slot machine, even the shape that thing was in, the gearbox was stout as ever. I traded it off to someone, and they actually mounted a rc gas airplane motor to it, with a prop facing the rear and drove it around like a air boat....anyway just thought someone might get a kick out of seeing it

I´m pretty sure I wrote a reply regarding the new "Rising Fighter" buggy and I seem to recall that LB even answered it.. was it deleted? why? Or is the database acting up? Is this common?

Anyways, Tamiya: The Rising Fighter is crap, just re-release the Monster Beetle. kthxbye.

That's probably deleted by the mod.. when I post pictures of other people's RC, it is consider "bumping" the thread, I guess...

Cool. Let´s experiment a bit. I´ve understood that bumping means posting a reply to a message board purely in order to raise the thread's profile or otherwise posting something offtopic. This is not my intention in any measure. I´m really curious about this new release and would like to hear what the resident experts have to say

Tamiya has announced that the next low-end or "classical" buggy release will be the Tamiya Rising Fighter. Tamiya´s website says that it´s the offspring of the Hornet and the Grasshopper.

It has a 2WD, independent swing axles for the front, a rolling rigid rear suspension, and friction dampers. ESC&motor are the standard stuff.

How does it differ from the Hornet? I personally don´t own one, but from the specs they seem to be the same, just a different chassis. I don´t think it´s a Super Hornet release due to missing oil shocks.

It´s longer (by 18mm), wider (by 6mm), taller (by 37mm) and heavier (by 126gr) than the Hornet. Measurements can be easily explained by the new shell but not the weight. Also, they say that the Rising Fighter has a "semi monocoque structure which acts as the chassis strengthening part where screws are used to secure the resin body to the bathtub chassis. Compare it to the Hornet which has "just" a "solid bathtub frame with side bumpers"

So maybe the whole chassis is different? But is it unique for this buggy? Sounds really weird that they would design and create a new mold (which I THINK is the most expensive part in the whole process) just for this kit. So maybe everything but the shell and the body comes from the Hornet/Grasshopper.

I´m wondering who is gonna buy this kit? Maybe somebody who reads this thread? I´d love to hear from you and see more pics of this buggy with the shell off.

Good info from Tamiyablog regarding the Rising Fighter;

http://tamiyablog.com/

"Tamiyablog would however like to point out that Rising Fighter is based on the Grasshopper 2 chassis, and not the Grasshopper (1) chassis, like the above description could otherwise give the impression of. The friction dampers and the gearbox are taken from the DT-01 chassis (Fighter series), whereas the wheels and tires are from the Desert Gator of the DT-02 series. Also, the body is a modified carry-over of the Super Hornet body with the wing of the Mad Fighter."

This kit is not for me :|

It is possible, but since I don't have either, I can't tell.. but for sure, it is not a Hornet or Grasshopper...

Hornet is pretty tough in general.. it does not have the modern suspension that offer long travel to soak up big jumps, of course.. so this is not the vehicle of choice if I want to do jumps..

But most likely, it will hold up okay..

If you break the chassis, they are cheap enough to replace.. !

Good luck!
