All of this makes me want to get one of these for myself. Ive always built MTs but a "cheap" buggy sounds good for a change. Maybe this or a frog.....

Yeah, probably more durable due to the rear solid axle.. no dog bone, no independent suspension, etc.

Basically, buggy version of the Lunchbox.. ha ha ha!!

put hard shock oil and you mind find harder springs coz the motor you want to put will kick the gearbox up and down i think

The gearbox will go up and down no matter what, unless you do a 3rd shock conversion.. that's a very old chassis design, but very durable.. ha ha!

I wonder how's my nephew's progress on building it up...

Same tranny as the Lunchbox.. why these old school Tamiya are so tough?!

LOL.. tranny case has an oil filler opening / cover.. just in case you want to grease up the gears without opening up the tranny..

Very straight forward.. 2 bearings on each side and the solid 5mm steel axle.. not very fancy but that's why they are tough!!

Even the shafts for the diff gears are pretty huge!! (5x11mm bearing for size comparison!)
