Thunder Tiger 46. When you mount it try to mount it as far back as you can on the mount. Control wise try to get as much as you can for 3D rates and probably half of 3d rates for precision aerobatics.

The recommended CG is a little nose heavy. I moved mine back a little. Saito .82 for power. Rockets out of a hover.

Whew! this thread was Tiering! Anyway, i ordered the Wagstaff trim version last night,, 119 bones.

i totally understand why the price floats around with a new product like this.. they have it set higher for a while, get all the dudes that "need to have it first" or dont' care about the price....
then they sell a batch at a reduced price to some exclusive RCU users... this builds HYPE and at they get some flyers to give it a try cause "its too cheap to pass up"
Then if the product is holding its own,, they can set a moderate price,,, and keep selling to the "average user" as long as they can, or untill the lifespan of the product just ends...

i'm pretty stoked and think it's a solid deal and it looks really cool.

I have many planes but kinda have the
profile "bug" right now.. got a Goldberg 330 used for very cheap, and think it flys pretty good on standard gear,.

A magnum .52 is broken in and waiting for the 260 to show up. is anyone still flying theirs with a .52 and have a guess on the CG?

i'll let yall know my feelings on it once it's been in the air a few times...

cheers!

engine waiting for breaking in.

CG? i dont know ... but should be at the wing servo area..

this plane looks nice!!! but a few built issues, i recommend to throw away the linkage rods and black clevis. they are very dangerous.

you can screw the z bend rods to the clevis but the all you need is a thug and they both fall apart. be advise if i didnt check and go flying 3d style, you will come home with a pile of wood.

Put the CG right on the wing spar right next to the fuse. It's pretty close right there.

I received mine 2 weeks ago and everything checked out ok. Nice ARF and the wing panels seem really lightweight which is a big plus. I have an OS .46 AX waiting for it. It should be plenty. Still undecided on what servos to use but I'm sure they will be Hitecs. I will build it with the SFG and judge how it performs from there.

Doublesixes you will love the winglets they really lock it in for precision flight heaps of fun, the 46 will be plenty of grunt this bird is built very light and im sure that Mrbigg is right on with the C of G i set mine at 5" from the LE about where the blue trim meets the white on the top of the fuse a little further if you want hard core 3D!

done about 12 flights.. really digging it! magnum 52 is almost too much power,, the vertical is unreal.. this plane flies very crisp,,, i can put it in a hover, and if there is no wind, i can take my hands off the sticks and it will almost sit there... amazing..never had a plane that could hover this well,,, my last profile was a Goldberg extra 330,, i thought that flew pretty good, this bird blows it away...
the two piece wing is removable, but its still kinda a pain... however, i do like that it keeps the fuse much more solid,, with out a huge cut out for the whole wing.

covering looks really good, but even after ironing everything down before assembly,,, some of the trim is already coming up. why can't they just use the good stuff?!?

overall i think it solid,, i didn't wanna take the time to build a mojo,, this built very fast and i'm a fan...

One thing I enjoy about this airplane is you can fly it at high speeds and no flutter at all. You can also slow it down and it has very stable harriers and hovers great. This thing is a rocket with a Thunder Tiger Pro 46. I mounted my engine as far back as I can get it for the prop to clear. I did change hardware out on mine. I put stronger hardware knowing I was going to fly it hard.

oh yes, the hardware that is included is complete junk... the control horns are pretty good, i like those.. they used to have that style on world models ARFs.
but the pushrods and the clevises (clevii??) are total crap... yeah, if you use a 46 or more, for sure put the engine as far back as possible, and i used a heavier battery, (1100mah) and have it as far back in the wing as possible.. also, if you put the battery on the same side as the receiver, then you can get it to balance laterally without adding weight to the wing tip...

i will try to get some images for you guys this weekend if its nice... happy turkey day!

Was not planning on replacing stock hardware. I was just going to fly the wings off of it. But all of the control linkages are too short to make it from the control horn to the servo horn so I guess those will have to be replaced. Every thing else seems to be fairly good for what I paid for it.

check if your servo's are not installed at the wrong direction.
at the last page of the manual there is a diagram showing servo direction,
you could use it as a guide.

Hi Jddrum,
Just one question did you by any chance put your servos in around the other way with your control horns away from the control surfaces as im sure they would be too short if you did and you would definately be the first to suggest some how they have made your kit with shorter linkages ?

Cheers Sean

the complete hardware is fuel tank, all screws and nuts, extension wires,
wheels, lockers,etc...

the tank is fine, and the screws and stuff are okay,,

its' really the actual control rods,, (the threads are very shallow and cheap)
and those type of clevisis,, (celvi??) they use a small screw to attach to the control horn , those are not my fav.
the rods are too thin to use with the included clevises, anyway..

the control horns.. (three screw type) i have on several planes and they seem to work great...

Hi Twigster ,
Just on those screw in Clevises you dont like i have used them on both of my TMPro Extra 260 P 46s and had no trouble and they are a damn site more reliable than than the full plastic type with plastic nipples at least with the screw there is little chance of them snapping clean it would take alot of force to snap that screw and the fact they are screwed in is a great way to stop them coming adrift in flight i spose no matter what hardware was fitted personal preference would always dictate responces and im sure if only the most expensive brand gear was used no one would buy the kit because it would be far to expensive ..... you think ?

oh, totally, the included clevises are totally useable... just not with the rods that were included, at least in my kit.
when i went to buy new rods,, they had them at hobby town with the plastic clevies already screwed on for cheap,
and i just went for that... i have mostly the standard jam plastic stuff on all my 40 planes, and i've never had a problem.
they are quick, cheap and you don't need tools to mess with em.. plus i love clipping tiny pieces of fuel line for keepers.. call me old school!
i'm not gonna run those on any of my diamond dusts, tho.. know what i'm sayin'?
and yes, the real deal hardware could easily tack 40 bucks on the thing...
i've got about 35 flights on the tmpro.. with a magnum 52, it's easily my favorite plane right now.

on a side note, i have been wringing out the tmpro extra for two weeks now and unfortunatly don't share alot of the same feedback. Its a great plane, just not what im into. I see this plane as an unreal precision flying plane, its impressive and fun to watch doing the airshow style pattern. But as far as a 3d giant, i have had not problem hovering it, and have completed tons of tail touches, waterfalls, harriers, reverse harriers ect... and just care for the performance of the omp edge 540. I feal that the extra blows past it in pattern, but as far as high alpha flight, i just think that the edge 540 out performs the edge in all ways, not only that, but I do feal the quallity is a bit higher. Little things in the omp like fiberglass rods runnign through the elevater/rudder stab, it completly eliminates flop which is required for precision 3d. I will continue to wring out this plane, but plan on either buying a omp yak (.60 size) or an omp edge 540. Just over all more impressed with the quality.

Nope servos are in the right direction. That was the first thing I looked at. Doesn't mater cause I already have it together with some stuff I had left over from another project. Looks like the new guy on the line cut the threaded end off to short as it looked like some one took a pair of pliers to that end. Not a big deal. It is just an ARF. No problem. When something is mass produced there is bound to be a mishap now and then. Before it is suggested that I used the aileron rods in the rear, I did not. These were just fine it was just the elevator that was too short.
