You can buy it from Towers or from your local hobby shop pretty cheap. Here is a link to the kit at Towers, you local hobby shop should be about the same price:

Here is a link to detailed instruction how to do the conversion once you have the kit:

It is a really simple upgrade and you can complete it in about an hour assuming you know absolutely nothing. If you know what you are doing, you will complete it in about 30 minutes. I did this after I got fed up with ripping the reverse gear and the optidrive sensor gear to shreds. It eliminates several components and replaces the weak gears in the tranny with stronger heavier gears. Good luck, this is a good upgrade.

FOC = best thing you can do to your truck: faster, quicker, more reliable, lighter, etc

How much weight do you save? I have ran over 3 - 1/2 gallons in my Revo 3.3 and have had zero problems with the stock tranny setup. Best I can figure either the OptiDrive does not work as Traxxas says they do or everyone is have major radio glitches. Having been in RC for over 40 years I know better than to run an AM radio in anything that matters and I my opinion the OptiDrive is a very bad joke.

I agree 100% The optidrive is junk...a marketing gimmick IMO. I would guess you save about 4-6 oz or so...but, it is rotational mass inside the tranny...the best kind to get rid of...the truck is much quicker with the FOC and more durable...I stripped numerous reverse gears in the tranny (not even shifting to reverse) before I got the FOC. I ran with the stock radio though when this was happening...I now have spektrum
