I put a NX 23X8 wide blade wood prop on my MVVS 45 for its first taste of fuel and it turned it at 6000-6100 rpms, straight from the box. I believe this prop loads down more than a Mejzlik, I believe I can turn a Mej at the same #'s you quoted..
Dont get me wrong I am not bashing DA I think they are good engines, but I chose the MVVS due to the better throttle transistion, and saved a couple oz's to boot hehehehehe.
There was a gent at our field with a WH Edge and a DA 50, there is no power difference I could tell in flight whatsoever between the two..

with the nx my da swong 6600 to 6700 im not a da pusher i just evaluated every possible engine and found the da to be best for a lite 50cc plane for the big EF yak i think that one of the 60cc would be best and so on

there is a lot of power diff between these 2 engines and it makes me wonder how people can compare them and think the evolution is even close. Now if they had made the engine 490 then the engine would have a nitch for itself. All things equal ie muffler type prop etc the da is better well except for those pesky 2 extra ozs lol.

Remember the RPM figures I gave you were for the very first run of the engine, I have not tached it since.. I only have about 1.5-2 gallons through it so far, so I am sure when I get a bit more time on it she will turn upper 6K range as well.
I am extremely happy with the throttle transistion, very broad powerband, everyone who has held the model when I start and run it up all have said the same comment, "Wow pulls very strong from off idle"...
About the only complaint I have with it, is that the stock choke buterfly plate has a small hole in it (to allow it to idle when fully choked I guess) and I need to close this hole to allow it to pull fuel quicker on first starts of the day.

My engine is the MVVS, I dont see a real difference in power between the DA & MVVS, I have not run a EVO, while they are supposed to be the same who knows..
Mufflers make a huge difference, what muffler you running??? You have not said.

the comparisons i have made were with my da back from da with new piston and ring on break in (LB ashless @ 32 to 1) maybe a gallon when compared with slimline pitts no smoke fitting and the evoloution 45 with the black pitts muffler. I assume to be the same as the mvvs 45 i have not seen or played with the mvvs brand of this engine. I do not know how many gallons were on the evolution engine but its needles were set right.

the da has that hole on the choke plate also or at leaat mine does

pps i will be switching to the da side mont muffler this spring to chase down the extra 200 rpms its supposed to score.

I have not run the EVO black muffler, mine is a BCM wrap around quite restrictive as they always are LoL. I thought about putting a canister on my Yak since it had one previously installed and the mounts are there, but I didnt since I had another BCM.
I plan to tweak the needles on my MVVS in another gallon or so as I am sure they need it since I have not touched them since first tank. When I do I will tach it again and see where she is spinning...dont think it matters much though hehehehe. Pulls my 16 1/4 lb WH Extra skyward rolling all the way, or snap roll and she continues to pull onward vertically. Put it in a slow climb and on high rates both sticks in the same upper corners and she will and she just continues to climb, quite a neat little maneuver and fun to watch LoL.

I had a H9 extra 260 till friday. When i was watching one of the wings float along next to the plane i forgot to watch the rest of it. Thankfully the DA50 seems to have survived. (Still to be confirmed)

This looks like a nice bird to replace it. The DA was a bit over owered for the 27% extra this will be a far nicer match.

Due to work, I slipped my completion date. Finally, my 300 is done. The all up weight came in at 16.38 LBS. I'm really happy with that. Now I'm on hold until the weather breaks and I can get a nice day to maiden the machine.

I installed a blimp tail wheel and my friend machined up some parts for it. It will have very postive control.

Everyone, thanks for all your help

Regards,

Chuck.

Man that is one heck of a tail wheel setup. I had to do a second take on that one.

Thats is very cool and almost perf. The thing you need to do now to make it work is get the attachment points for the push rods on the hinge line. The way it is now one will push against the other when deflected. It will try to work your tail wheel attachments loose.

Edit; Or you could lose weight and remove one push rod and 2 of the stand offs so just one side is connected . This will save weight, make sure they dont fight each other and when you land and the tail wheel compresses they wont fight each other that way either.

will you get twisting on the vertical arms and more likely the joints that hold them?

Call DA Australia, they are our Australian distributor and should have the planes in stock.
