Here are a couple more PICs, one of the canopy with screws holding in place, took Toms advice on cutting down the muffler to just clear the ring and it worked great. As always Tom give great advice!!!!

Greg,

How much did you cut off the exhaust?

Put something around the plug wire to protect it, that fiberglass edge will saw through it in 1 or 2 flights the way it is.

With respect to post 69,

Thanks Tom, i was afraid of that, not set on an airframe yet, if i go with your line, i'll stick with the Cap then. My engine choice is set with the 3W-56b2, but i need/want it to be fully inclosed. Getting closer to a decision now

Tom, absolutely will, the PIC was just a mock up and the muffler is not even bolted on, nor is the cowl LoL. I always protect the plug wire, thanks for the tip though it is always good to alert of such information. Thanks.

Scooterpilot, ya know I didnt measure how much I cut off, I did more measuring of how much clearance I needed to pass the cowl ring. I had to extend my cowl opening to go just behind the exhaust tubes, did this by using construction paper/card stock to make a template. Then transferred that onto my cowl and cut just shy of my measurements, I like to sneak up on it LoL. Then I measured down from the engine box to the top of the cowl ring and used that to make a guess-ta-mate. I then cut the exhaust tubes and mocked it up and just needed to trim about a 1/8th of an inch more and thats what you see now. I can measure the tubes from the muffler body to the end and post that measurement if you need??? Let me know.

Measured the exhaust tubes and they are 55mm long from the main body of the muffler to the tips.

Yes, wouldn't it. I'd happily do this if I had a plane. All I have is the prototype which did not have the canister tunnel built in.

Maybe in the next group I can allocate one for a build, or maybe someone out there is doing this.

I plan on building mine with a canister muffler, I think both the stock DA muffler and pitts are too loud. (for my tastes) Do you sell cans Tom? If so I will call you and "upgrade" my order. When's the container coming... I'm anxious!

Me too! Yes we have a canister kit for the DA-50 which includes the header, muffler, all mall parts. $219.

Container is still on a train.

Redneck Shaun,

That is one nice looking plane. I can't wait to hear how it flies.

I won't be able to start on mine until Thanksgiving :-(
