I just finished up my new Extra this evening. It'll be powered by a Brison 3.2 with a pitts style muffler. I used the hardware from Tom's hardware kit. I have a carbon fiber wing tube. I use a Li-ion 2800 for the ignition and one for the receiver. No choke servo, no pants, no cuffs, and no spinner. That's the way I fly them. It may be stripped down a bit, but it only weighs 15 pounds, 11 ounces.

Looks good Shaun!! I have hit a snag (personal nothing to do with the bird) that has put my bird a bit off from being finished this week. But hopefully will have it in 2.

Thanks Greg. Life sometimes life seems to throw a curve ball from time to time. I'll make the time you have to wait worst though, by saying this plane is really better then I expected!!!! Come up to our field sometime and I'll let you fly mine while your getting your together.
Shaun

Few more PICs of the interior setup. Single Futabe PCM receiver, 7.4V 2 cell Lithium Ion 4800 Mah pack (16awg lead with Deans), Smart-Fly adjustable Heavy Duty regulator (also equipped with Deans), Smart-Fly Super DSC switch with 18ga input, dual 22ga outputs.
Dubro 24 oz tank, fueler inside under canopy hatch, I did not want to cut another hole in the side of the fuse and always a good idea to do a good check between flights right?!!!

Shaun I thought about having to remove the canopy, just couldnt put another hole in this gorgeous bird LoL. Not a problem at all for me to removed the canopy to refuel, I usually like to take a peak inside every couple flights anyway LoL. If it becomes a pain I can easily put the fueler in normally through the side or out the bottom or such.
Dont know if I can make up or not, will have to see, shoot me an email off forum with the details, I will see what I can do might be a good excuse to get in a motorcycle ride LoL.

Maybe putting on a hatch latch from BVM could help elleviate the hassle on taking on and off the hatch. Ive put one on my showtime 4d and gosh no more loosing screws, and i can get into the hatch within a click.

Since I have been waiting on some funds to get the last couple items needed to finish my Extra, I decided against the fueler being inside under the canopy hatch. Put it out the bottom.
Hope to have it finished later today, but alas it hasnt rain but 3 times all summer and now they are calling for rain LoL.
Will post completed weight later.

Greg, what did you do about getting to the carb mixture screws? I'm about to go drill two holes in my cowl for access to the screws.

Jim, I actually was not going to drill the cowl, I usually run the engine and set the needles on the ground with the cowling off then install before flight.
I have in the past drilled the cowl, but always seemed like I could never hit the adjusting screws, LoL, so I ended up pulling the cowling anyway.

FYI a single small hole the size of a screw driver will work for both screws on the da50.

I have a final weight, finally, LoL . A few ounces more than I tried for but she came in at 16 lbs 8 oz's. I used all stock parts with the exception of tail wheel, I used a CF unit just because I already had it.
Here are the weights of each component.
Fuse (bare fuse minus canopy, hatch, cowl, stab, etc) 2 lbs 14.6 oz's
Hatch (without canopy) 7.4 oz's
Canopy 9.2 oz's Not sure if all the others have as heavy of a Canopy as mine, should be quite sturdy though hehehe.
Cowl 9.2 oz's
Landing gear (without axles etc) 9.4 oz's
Wheel Pants (bare) 2.6 oz's
Right wing panel 1 lb 2.2 oz's
Left wing panel 1 lb 2.2 oz's
Right elevator/stab 4.7 oz's
Left elevator/stab 4.2 oz's
Rudder 3.4 oz's
Wing tube 9 oz's
Stab tube 1.2 oz's
Tail Wheel assembly w/hardware 2.8 oz's
Misc
