Should run a Mens 22x8 for break-in then switch to a 23x8 after breakin this is just what DA reccomends. I have about 6-8 gallons of fuel through mine now and I am running a Mens 23x8 and getting 6900 on the ground. Tried an NX but like you said it seems to load up a bit. I haven't tried the Vess prop yet but I haven't found anything yet that beats the Mens performance.

Conrad, the MVVS 45 lists
Two-blade propellers:
22x10, 22x12, 22x14,
23x8, 23x10, 23x12
24x8, 24x10, 24x12
Three-blade propellers:
21x10, 21x12
22x8, 22x10
So I went with a middle of the road size, I know they suggest using a lower load prop to keep from putting extra stress on a new engine and I agree. However I think this prop will be ok since it never got hot during the tank I ran in on the ground.
I will take it easy and not go after hard power maneuvers or high alpha stuff until I get several flight in and get the engine loosened up more.
I do appreciate the information I am listening.

IMO your numbers wont come up much unless your needles are way off. If the prop doesnt allow the engine to come up on the rpms more your not doing the engine any favors. This engine likes more rpms.

I think that the 6550 rpms that im getting are a little low to. I bout a 22a vess prop to try to see if i like it over the 23a but i wont be using that prop till i have 3 more flying days on this 23a. Reason being, my buddy Meanrudder wont stop giving me crap for trying a prop for 2 flights and then telling him its not as good as another so I promised him I would fly the props longer to give him a more accurate opinion.

EDIT; this post was replying to the thought he was using a da50 sorry for the confusion

but the statement that the numbers wont get much better unless the needles are off is still valid .

Cyoung i would like to try the menz 23/8 and i think posibly it could be the best prop for the da50. Heres why the menz 23 prop isnt 23" its 22.5 or there abouts so it allows more rpms and will produce more power at those rpms i hope. Nothing is wrong with it being 22.5 but thats why there cant be a direct comparison to rpms from another prop that is 23" other than to say the engine likes it better or not imo. My menz 22/8 was 21.5 inches and is the best break in prop for the da50 imo.

The 23/8 mejlick had about 6600 rpms but i tried that prop beefore i knew what i was doing (about 2 years ago) and the engine had to be a smidge on the rich side as i was not getting very good throtle transition i would like to try it again if any one has a spar sitting around lol

I do have a lot of opinions today

opps sorry Greg in that case through those numbers out There advertisement propaganda and run a 22/8 at most i bet the cost of the prop that you will use it instead of any 23/8 for the life of the engine!

Im serious 22/8 you wont look back with the 45cc you might even switch to a 21/8 or a menz 22/8 since the menz is 21.5

cyoung they dont list it on there site if they had i would have already tried it. its prob one of those things ya have to ask about to get.

Can you measure the prop and see if my guess of it being 22.5 is correct?

I just called them and ordered it, there is a lot of stuff that is not on thier web site. I just measured the Mens 23x8 and it is 23 inches exactly tip to tip. I have a 22x8 Mens also but not in front of me, I would be curious if it measure 22 or not.

Chalk up another happy WH customer!

Maiden flight for my Extra was this morning. I had the balance set right in the middle of the range, at 3-3/4" back, but think I'll move the CG forward a little bit. It had a nice, lively feel, but I think I'll prefer the CG forward just a little bit, as the plane flew mostly level, with a very slight climb while inverted, hands off the sticks. This is a very smooth, clean flying plane. I also have the 28% Edge, and really enjoy it, but I can see the new Extra will be even better. Here's some pics.

Pleased to see you had a great day of flying!! You discovered why I've been going with the 3-1/2" c/g on the Extra too

I hope you get to enjoy her for a long time to come because the experience just keeps getting better with time.

Great to see another one take to the air. Looks like you did a fine job I might add. I'm loving mine. I also have my CG at 3 1/2". I fly IMAC style of flying 95% of the time, and with this CG it lends itself to that very well. One of these days I'll get a couple planes and have this one as a 3-D/IMAC back-up. At that time I'll move the CG back and play a little more .

Conrad when you gonna have your new designed Extra/Edge ready. I am curious how the edge flies. Might have to let you take my 33% wildhare 260 for a SPIN so I can try your newly designed edge. You comming out to fly saturday?
