I got an 'official' word that there will be a H9 Spitfire coming out in late summer/early fall. Don't know any specs yet - but this is one I'm going to have to get.....

Well, if the release on this one's like the P-47 was, you'll have plenty of time to save for it. The TBolt was announced sometime around May of '05 for late July delivery. Schedule slip after schedule slip -- fina lly got them sometime after the first of the year if I remember correctly.

Tailskidt, let me check with "my people" at Horizon. Maybe I can pry some info from their tight little lips.

You'd need a really skinny engine to fit inside the Spitfire cowl. But I'm thinking a gasser.

Maybe this one is gonna be a small 60 size one, rather than the larger 150 size to match the P-51 and P-47.

I spoke with Peggy at Horizon in product development and she said they have no plans for a Spitfire. Where did you get your information? I hope you are not starting another rummor. Sounds like one to me since you will not say where you got the information and can't give out any details.

Don't know about the Thunderbolt, but the Hellcat was right on time: scheduled delivery back in early April (Toledoe show) was mid June 2006, 1st ones were shipped to cutomers around June 8.

Glad the rumors are un-founded so far: I would rather see them come out with a Zero. No matter what they come out next, a late summmer release date sounds unusual to me: new ones are usually spread out a little farther apart, like at least 6 months. The Hellcat came out just a little over a month and a half ago.

I'd rather see an FW-190, Bf-109, or an F4U in giant scale.

They are coming out with the Sopwith camel soon so It's highly unlikely that they are doing a spit this early anyways.

Hey guys,
Regardless of (if or when) the Spifire arrives you can bet that if theres a problem with the quality of the kit, it will not be released and held for as long as needed to correct the problem like the P-47. Horizon is not in the business to hold new items just to upset their potential customers. I agree with their policy of quality control first. Nothing is perfect but they strive to come as cloase as they can. I would rather wait and have it right then to have it arrive in my hands and then complain and write bad things about the product. Just my thinking.

I am fairly certain they are bringing out a spitfire because I saw the mock up at Sandown in the Helgar distribution display at the show a month or so ago. Helgar are the UK importer for Hanger 9.................. Why oh Why does hardly anyone do a Hurricane. After all is is that plane that we owe our freedom to.

You ask of the hurricane....
You know that was my fathers favorite plane. I think the reason why its not modeled more are two reasons... one being they simply dont sell well. The other is I never found the hurricane to be a great flyer...again only my opinon...

Dear Den
I see that you live in Ipswich.
Do you fancy coming to our Battle of Britain event at RAF Coltishall near Norwich.
On friday the 15th of September.
It is open to Jets(any) or any scale model, WW2 would be nice.

Yt does a nice Hurricane, Pegasus models (Norwich(kit)) Mick Reeves(kit), DB (kit)
Brian Taylor (plans/semi kit), Complere-a-Pack (Gt Yarmouth(kit) so there are a few about.

Regards Phil Goff. The Norwich Model Aero Club.

I know, I know. But since I have yet to see any official announcement about a spitfire from H-9, I thought I would just have some fun with the thread starter.

I'M DEFINITELY AN ADVOCATE FOR A .60 SIZE 190 OR 109, BUT ALL THIS TALK OF sPITFIRE'S, AND SOPWITH CAMELS IS MAKING ME DROOL!
I CAN ONLY HOPE FOR A HAWKER HURRICANE, KMP SEEMS BACKLOGGED SOP IT MUST DO PRETTY GOOD IN SALES.

Here, here! I really want a Hurricane too. Too many same old, same old. Even the Spitfire (though beautiful) is too common. A Hurricane followed by a Sea Fury in 90-120 4 cycle size would be cool.

we do all the fighters mentioned, great scale outline, covered in fabric, with scale empennage, and correct matt colour scheme, all are for 90-120 engines, although i must admit, a mk 1X would be nice,
but for me, flat plate and shiny covering are a no-no, but there are ways of flattening doiwn the ultracoat, indigbo, our designer, is presently battling with a large scale H9 Tbolt, instructions he recieved where to make it weathered, and used, cant wait to see the result!!! I saw the kit, it will make an impressive beast if H9 continue to make them this big, they will have quite a market!!

Sorry, H9 .60 size "fun scale" shiny warbirds don't come close to KMP .60-.90 size "scale" warbirds in terms of looks and scale fidelity. You can't do a proper camo job with UltraCote. KMP/YT has the best looking BF-109 ARF on the market to date.

I'm with Richard on that one. Even though I have been swamped at work and have not built the 109 yet, just seeing it once in a while in my shop makes me smile. It is so beautiful. About the spit, I hope its not a .60 size toy looking thing like all their other stuff. The P-47 was a nice offering and I hope they back it up with something just as nice. A large scale FW 190 would sell well.
I'd buy two.

I'm with you on the 190. I'll take two as well.
I'm about to start on the P-47. I'm thinking I'll take fine steel wool and/or sandpaper, take the shine off the covering and paint it w/ flat clear. Sure do wish the RS Perfect/Chevron paints were still available. Back in the 80's I built a Pilot (remember those?) 190, covered it/ w/ clear Monokote, then sanded it and painted it w/ Perfect paints, and finished it off w/ their flat clear. Looked great!
