I need some info on something called the "LOST FOAM WING CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUE". Could someone please tell me what this is and possibly explain how to do it?

Hi bigbigjoe

The technique you are refering to was coined by Bob Hunt. The technique utilizes the foam wing cradles for building your wing. The foam wing itself is sliced from the leading edge to the trailing edge in order to get the rib template. Once the balsa ribs are cut out they are placed into the foam cradles along with the spars and leading/trailing edges for a traditional built up wing. Once the process is complete you have a built up wing. The foam is used to make templates and positioning of the ribs.

Bob Hunt is the editor of Model Aviation and can be reached through email for further questions. I believe that there is a video available out there that will take you through the complete process.

Could it also mean you bag a foam core wing, or wrap a male mold made of foam with composite cloth, usually a little heavier lay-up, and when the wing or mold is complete you pour some type of solvent to dissolve all the foam leaving the composite shell?

Bill's is the version of "Lost foam" construction I know. Probably more commonly used for fuselages than wings as in http://www.favonius.com/soaring/index.htm Look under Lost Foam.
