Status: offline 		I should have taken some pics! My brothers trex-600 showed up yesterday and between then and now, approx 8 hours have been spent on it's assembly. It is all together with the exception of installing the servo's and the links from the servos to the arms to the swash. The head from swash up is done. The other items to be installed are the esc, gyro, bec and receiver. Mostly just the radio stuff. It really looks to be a quality kit. I have not had any of the issues that I have read about others having. The only problem that I noted during assembly of the tail was the threads on the ball that goes into the tail slider were too long and they jammed the tail slider bushing. I had to file the threaded portion shorter and it seems ok now. It may or may not get finished tomorrow but we can only hope.

Status: offline 		How are the linkages? Any slop? My only concern is with the plastic torque levers that i've seen for the aileron servos. I'm wondering if this is one of the "high stress" areas that was addressed in the factory revisions or not. I know alot of guys have been replacing them with the metal versions right off the bat.

Status: offline 		The links seemed fine. No cracking yet, not all installed though. I think your refering to the links that ride on bearings and are mounted on a small shaft just behind the main shaft? two push-pull links from the servos to one link from the arm up to the swash? These parts all seemed plenty beefy to me. I had no concern after installing them that they might flex or break unless in a crash. Some folks have said that theirs had slop from side to side, the kit that my brother received did not have any slop, it was just right. The kit did include two little washers to add in case there was some slop.

Status: offline 		now that this is running off a 22v lipo... yes its expensive... yes that motor is screaming as it is. how high can you go with it?

i dont know whats above 22... but i swear, one day when i make enough money, i will buy the most powerful heli i can find (right now thats a trex 600 no doubt) swap out all the electronics and at least double the voltage. oh and ya, somehow find a motor that can take it. but if i do... watch man... im gonna make a 50 sized heli that can lift a person! HA!

Status: offline 		I don't know if the kit was revised or not but it could have been... There have been mixed reports for several weeks. Some having troubles with little things, some no troubles with the same items at all. I am thinking we got lucky.

I got the servos mounted tonight but I did not get the rest of the links put together and installed. after that I need to set the pitch and secure the wires and a few other odds and ends, then we can give it a try. We are planning on using 4 2100 packs in a 6s-2p config for 4200mah. If that does not give long enough flight times then we will go with 6 2100's for 6s-3p. We are not looking for radical 3d, just FFF, loops, rolls and inverted hovering/forward flight. Hopefully it will handle all of that nicely.

The .90 size electrics run off 36+ volts

I'm going to try the 3S2P packs x 2 and see how it goes. The packs I think are a bit heavier than the stock Align 6S pack, but I highly doubt the little bit of extra weight will bother the helicopter..

4 2100 packs? Sounds like alot of wiring!

wow thats absolutely crazy. the guys at my local hobby shop said this thing is 50 sized (which it is) but it has the power of 90!!! NO WAY! is it true?

Status: offline 		Probably. Electric helicopters are usually more powerful than their equivelent nitro bird, regardless of how many nitro guys refuse to believe it.
And it's simply because brushless motors are much more efficient and (in most cases) a heck of alot lighter than their nitro equivelent in power. Power to weight is almost always better on an electric helicopter.

Up untill now, though, that performance was very expensive. The t-rex 600 is the cheapest setup i've seen to date for a .50 size electric. Less than $1500 and you've got a nice .50 ship. Not much more than what you'd pay for a nitro ship. It's a good time to be an electric flyer!

Status: offline 		I suspect that this was the reason the kits we're recalled. Now i'm glad I waited for the revised version! Nice find there blax, thanks for that! I'll be sure to double check and make sure i've got the new grips in my kit tommorow.

EDIT: Just looked closer, this PDF is dated yesterday, so this is a new problem that's been found. Upon closer reading it seems that they're implying this safety issue only appears when using something more powerful than the stock setup. Also states they believe the cause of the problem to be over-tightening of the blade bolts.

Not entirely comforting news, i'll have to keep an eye on my grips and headspeed and make sure both stay in check untill I can get some of the newer grips (or) some nice shiney metal ones .
