so does anyone have/getting it? check it out here http://www.helihobby.com/html/t_rex_600_heli.html holly cow! the battery is expensive!

Crash Bandicoot -> RE: .50 size electric trex 600!!! (7/9/2006 7:49:01 AM)

Looks like im putting the wife and kids on ebay. OOPS...............Did I say that?

That is one bad a** heli. I will get one soon, he he he.

I saw it compete at the XFC this year and it is no joke. It can do any 3D move you throw at it for sure.

Im sure that someone is going to make a cheaper Li-Po pack for it. The guys at XFC we not using ALIGN Li-Po packs.

credence -> RE: .50 size electric trex 600!!! (7/9/2006 5:37:09 PM)

Actually the price of the Align LIPO packs is pretty reasonable. Atleast if you've been around the other high capacity lipo packs available for awhile.

DebianDog -> RE: .50 size electric trex 600!!! (7/10/2006 3:48:55 PM)

I saw a TREX 600 fly this weekend he had about $1700 into the build (servos, rx, etc) running 6S packs.

Smooth flying bird.

Ge Force -> RE: .50 size electric trex 600!!! (7/11/2006 7:39:26 AM)

if you think thats expensive guess how much a 22.2 7400 mah pack cost!!!! http://www.hobby-lobby.com/flightpower.htm o god how did these batteries get SO BIG AND POWEFUL!!?

choppersrule -> RE: .50 size electric trex 600!!! (7/12/2006 2:29:46 AM)

Credence & Crash Bandicoot,

You guy must have a bigger wallet than I do[:D].. If you guys get one... Pleeease let us know how this heli performs. . I've watched several videos and the thing looks totally awesome..

Check this guy out, see pic.. He built most of them himself.

credence -> RE: .50 size electric trex 600!!! (7/12/2006 3:10:56 AM)

Big wallet? Hell no, I'm gonna have to sell my eco-8 plus a bunch of my archery stuff just to afford the t-rex 600 [:D]. And the rex 600 is one of the cheapest large electrics currently on the market. You can have a nice setup, everything included, for about $1500, that's a hell of a bargain for an electric chopper of that size.

Make no mistake, the T-rex 600 is gonna be the bird that brings the push in this part of the hobby from nitro to electric. It's now a viable alternative to a nitro ship and it's in the same price region, for, in most cases, better performance.

but, but, what about the eRaptor coming to market? :D

Dunno, has anyone even seen one of these yet? If TT doesn't get on the ball, they'll lose out to Align.

Gotta get while the gettin' is good, or it'll be too late to achieve market majority as they have with the Raptor.

choppersrule -> RE: .50 size electric trex 600!!! (7/13/2006 1:23:23 AM)

Sounds like Align is doing exactly what Bill Gates did with Microsoft.

If the other vendors don't get on-board and offer bigger, better and less expensive they will be just like Mac, IBM and a host of other corporations. You don't see a ton of software out there for the Mac, but a ton of Microsoft. Microsoft is world wide.

Credence,
You'll have a 600 in less than 3 months, betcha.

Haha, more right than you know! I should have one in about 2 weeks. Got the CF version too :).

I took the plunge... [:(] I hope my credit card forgives me. Now I need to sell off a bunch of stuff to make the blow not so hard..
Maybe I can resort to selling my body... Any takers?! :D

The worst part is, that's just the helicopter with the motor and ESC and BEC. I still need the servos, receiver, battery, gyro..ahh.. Better not think about it or i'll cry. Atleast I can get the batteries cheap through my supplier. Now that I think of it, it's really not much more than what i've got invested in my eco. We shall see how it goes ;).

I'll post a build thread here for you guys when I get the bird and let you all know how it goes together. I can't wait!

DebianDog -> RE: .50 size electric trex 600!!! (7/13/2006 4:46:24 PM)

You know we have a build thread for the 600 (videos) on Heli Freak right?

credence -> RE: .50 size electric trex 600!!! (7/13/2006 6:43:41 PM)

Well, RCU can use one too :).

DebianDog -> RE: .50 size electric trex 600!!! (7/13/2006 7:13:24 PM)

Agreed! You can never have too much info!

cptsnoopy -> RE: .50 size electric trex 600!!! (7/13/2006 8:09:25 PM)

as far as I know there is nothing bad wrong with the trex-600. I appears to be a fantastic eHeli of good size. Much easier to fly than the trex 450 as it is not as nimble, it is easier to see and a lot more stable. (just figuring that it flys alot like my logo10 and eRaptor) I don't need a 50 size eheli so I can wait (knock on plastic) until the eRaptor comes to market. They should be around late in 2006. They are already being demonstrated worldwide... The good news for guys like me that already have a Raptor, Most of the Parts will interchange such as the tail boom and main rotor head setup. The frames will be different for sure as the motor mounts on top just behind the main shaft. I think both helicoptors will be very close in performance. :)

credence -> RE: .50 size electric trex 600!!! (7/13/2006 10:17:33 PM)

So are the main frames totally redesigned? If it uses all the original raptor parts, I wonder if the AUW of the eRaptor will be more than that of the t-rex 600 which was designed from the ground up for electric flight.

Can you post any links or info on the eRaptor? I'd be interested in reading about it.

DebianDog -> RE: .50 size electric trex 600!!! (7/13/2006 11:46:26 PM)

I know of some videos of it flying but I have seen no specs or close up pics. Word has it it is eCCPM.

choppersrule -> RE: .50 size electric trex 600!!! (7/14/2006 12:01:43 AM)

debiandog,

Here's a web site with some vidios and some specs. I'm sure there's more out there.

I am on a link hunt now. I did watch a video of the first public demo flights. I think they may have been in Switzerland but I don't remember for sure...

credence -> RE: .50 size electric trex 600!!! (7/14/2006 12:42:51 PM)

Looks like the flying weight of the eraptor is higher than that of the rex 600, and it requires a bigger power source. Rex 600 will fly on 6S packs, whereas it looks like the eraptor needs atleast 10S. Expensive batteries.

The .50 size eraptor comes out to 7.7 lb's, the .30 size to 6.6 lbs. In comparison, the t-rex 600, which is .50 size, comes out at 6.6 lbs AUW. I imagine the power to weight may end up being better on the t-rex 600, but it remains to be seen. They should both be nice birds, that's for sure.

Another thing I find puzzling (if i'm reading this correctly). The raptor will come with either 90 degree eCCPM, or 140 degree, no 120. That's a bit odd, especially considering most transmitters don't even come with support for 140 I don't think. Any ideas? [sm=confused.gif]

DebianDog -> RE: .50 size electric trex 600!!! (7/14/2006 2:06:27 PM)

Video of it flying http://www.helifreak.com/viewtopic.php?p=131344

cptsnoopy -> RE: .50 size electric trex 600!!! (7/14/2006 5:25:05 PM)

The 140 eccpm is not supported by most tx's. I would use the stock 90 degree setup as pictured or 120 degree if it comes out as a mod. My eRaptor is 8lbs, 9oz and flies awesome. Taking a little more than a pound off is good, taking 2 lbs off should be better! The only gripe that folks are saying about the Trex 600 is that the frames are so close together that you have to cut away some frame to get bigger than stock motors in there. The new batteries coming out should run the Trex 600 and the eRaptor ok. The batteries that we are now using are barely usable for the current trex 600 setup in a 6s-2p config. I use a 9s-2p for my heavy weight eRaptor and a 6s-2p for my Logo10 with 550 blades. I have only flown 5 minute flights on the Logo10 so far and I am using about 38% of the battery. I should be able to get good 8 minute hard flights with it without hurting the batts.

Looks like my rex 600 is delayed. Align has recalled some of the kits because of a design fault. Here's what he said.

quote:

Align is recalling back the t-rex 600 for replace, they say there is some fault in the design, SF lever arm will break after high speed flying, They are redesigning the new one, will be out next week, I will get that one for you

I plan on using two seperate 3 cell packs, 4400 mAh each, connected in series. Might go for the 5400 mAh, though performance may suffer from the extra weight.
See how it flies, if it stinks, i'll sell the pack and get two 4S ones instead, then that baby should cook on 8 cells.. :D

Thanks for the info!

Bummer about the recall. i will inform my brother who is waiting impatiently for his to show up. :(

That battery config that you plan on using ought to be plenty. I will keep an eye on your posts to see if it does not work out.

I flew my Logo10 stretched for 7 minutes today and only put 2200 back into a 15C 6s-2p setup. This thing is quite the rocket. I am using a hacker c50-19xl in it... I can't imagine going from 550 blades to 600 will make that big of a difference in power requirements. But we shall soon see! :D

credence -> RE: .50 size electric trex 600!!! (7/21/2006 11:42:20 PM)

Yeeha! My 600CF is finally on the way. It's the new factory revised version, so hopefully they fixed any of the niggling problems the initial kits had :).

I'm gonna be sticking 3 HS5625-S digitals on the cyclic. Quick servos and tons of torque, should be great!
http://www.greathobbies.com/products/productinfo.php?prod_id=HITHS5625S they're really nice looking servos, and i've heard good things about them. I also like that it comes with a cool aluminum servo horn :).

This thing is going to cost me a small fortune, but..I..must..have..it..

I'll get the build thread started when it arrives. Next week some time, I hope, though that's probably hoping for too much :).
