i had good experience with my hyper 21 8 port give me no problems but was a defect in the crank causing premature where but i used it as a race engine so was getting a lot of use started first time and had no problems tuning.

yeah the mach .28 engine causing me to much grief and problems flat out so i basically have it sitting in the corner as a paperweight as it is no good for anything really.

i had the hyper 21 8 port turbo (purple head) pullstart version i converted it to starter box with the booster back plate was great engine.

For one side great...The Hyper 7 TQ PRO that i bought, brings (almost for free) that engine... (yes i know that is a bit old, but it was at a great price)

For the other side...i should start saving money to change the Hyper St engine.....but just for the record...maybe the engine is not good for racing, but for the use i give to him (or maybe insane abuse).....it works great

Thank's for the reply adz...

Hyper ST engine? Why? The 8 port is a great engine, run it til it's dead then spend $300 on something really special. Why go from one RTR motor to another?

Sorry...write it wrong...for what i understand..the .21 8 port is a great engine, while the macstar .28 is not so good...the .21 8 port is in a Hyper 7 TQ Pro, and the .28 is in a Hyper ST, what i mean is that maybe the .28 will die soner than i thought....so i'll start saving mone for a nice .28 for the truggy, and keep the .21 8 port til it die...

Hi, first, you could get a temp gauge (they should be arround US$15 bucks), if not, you can put a spit over the crank were the plug is, if it boils fast, it's too lean...but also you have to see how much smoke does the pipe throws...it should be some amount of smoke (you can see a few videos in youtube and see how much smoke they throw and how the engine sounds, yours should be running like it)...the needle that you should move is the HSN, and in the first 10 tanks don't make the engine runs so fast, and after a small full throtle leave it cool for a while (some people start the engine warm it for about a minute or 2 and then stop it and they leave it there until the temp goes down and start it again)...if you buy a temp gauge, you shuld run the engine at about 100 - 110 °C, and if you leave the engine without moving the throtle it should stay at about 100 or 105, if not, aopen a bit the HSN, after about 20 tanks you can slowly start leaning the HSN until 130...thats a temp that the engine should run a bit high but usually without any problem (I run it at about 140°C sometimes it reachs 160 or 170 for a few seconds, but i know maybe the engine would not last too long)...

-I use 30%, but i think 25% is good, you should use a plug that is cold or med (higher numer colder, I use number 9)

-Air filter....buy the oil in your LHS (local hobby shop), it's cheap, here in chile a small botlte is about US$3...for cleaning the air filter i use RON 93 (normal gasoline), and the alcohol (normal too, just to take the fuel or gas), then i put the oil (is better to put the amount of oil that you can feel the air filter brings at the beginning, a bit more if you want...

In summary...the best for the tunning of an engine is the smoke, sound and temp...not only one of them...be patience, it take a while to learn...but always, to be sure is better to run a bit rich that a bit lean...

Hope it helps...good luck and welcome to the hobby

P.S. I think that the needle you are talking about is the LSN (Low), if you are breaking in the engine don't touch it, start with the high speed needle...then once you have learn that, make a mark in the LSN and start making small changes, the mark is to know were was the factory setting if you make a mistake....you can also see some threads that talk abut braking in an engine and stuff like that, they are really useful

Sorry...i make a mistake...read the PS again
