What does your club do for fund raising? Besides annual club dues, What are some good suggestions to raise money for club projects like Runway construction, clubhouse construction, shelters, etc...

Bake sales, Rummage sale, etc........ LOL You could put on a flying show at your field. Selling food(Hey, that bake sale would work) and drinks for profit. Raffling off a ready to fly trainer is good too. Get donations from local hobby shops in exchange for advertising their shops. Invite other local clubs to participate. 50/50 drawings would work also. On everyone puts up a dollar, and the pot is split, half for the winner, and half for the club coffers. An RC Flea Market and Auction.

Our club, The Lake Ontario Flyers, in Olcott, NY intends to raise funds by way of a mass and rapid membership recruitment drive. We have a free ad on local cable TV to bring in hopefully large numbers of dues paying new members. Also, we have gone to several schools to set up aeromodeling programs, which is working out quite well. We have one day set aside for training and there are several members who bring their own trainers but we will eventually buy club trainers. All spectator and club member beginners are given a 100% guarantee that she or he will fly for at least 20 minutes on training day or they can call several instructors to fly any other day, if there are no instructors on the field at the time the beginner shows up any other time other than the training day. Take care, CCR http://www.kites.org/rc_instructors
