Been there, done that.... now I own a racerunner

Dead set, the more I looked, the harder it became to find any real bad reports about these cars - except the price but once you have one in your possession you quickly realise why they are priced the way they are.

the car itself is faultless apart for the main fault for me which is the throttle linkage if they came up with something better out of the box it would be faultless
especially when they bring out the limited slip diff for them

Regarding the gears. How many come with the Racerunner in the box. I understand there are 12 scenerios. Are the an extra expense?

The MCD only comes with one set of gears. You can swap them aroun d for a few other ratios, however. If you want to expand to other rations, then extra gears muct be purchased. They run about $15ea.

What is the benefit of the Long Travel Front End kit? Do they have anything for the rear?

Thanks

The long travel front end uses the same shocks as the rear (long) Vs. the mediums as used in the front as standard so no there is nothing longer for the rear.

Not really sure of the benefit but I would expect the longer travel would be able to soak up the rough stuff a little better.

I have a Q. regarding the MCD diffs. I believe they are filled with grease from the factory but was wondering if they would hold oil so that you could tune them for track purposes. They dont appear to be sealed with any gasket material so thought they might leak if I tried.

I'm not 100% on that but I'm going to put an open diff in the center of my Race Runner so I’ll let you know.

Well guys, after a long time of reading customer comments, reviews and watching all the videos out there on the 5B buggy, FG and MCD. I fanally placed my order and my MCD Pro 1000 came in yesterday. unbelievable!!!! this thing is HUGE!!! It ain't ready to run but i got all the stuff to complete. I built pastic models since i was a kid so for me, building is half the fun. but they didn't last long when tried to play with them. I got the 30.5 engine, FG stadium truck wheels and tires and the spectrum radio. this is my first large scale other then the 1/6 scale New Era models conversion i put on my T-Maxx. (don't try that one. big mistake) I'll try to post some pics soon. still not sure how to paint it yet. I like the simple layout that MCD has on there's. just can't decide what colors to use. So far, i'm very please. no buyers remorse this time.

Congrats on the new toy, pfiftyonenut!!! Sounds like you're gonna have a sweet set-up. Make sure to post up some picks when you're done!

whizzy: I agree, a few spare gears kickin' around is always a good option! I just ordered a few extra for this exact reason. Plus, you can alwasy swap 'em out for different running conditions.

mnorman367: As Monotheist pointed out, the Long-Travel front end allows you to add longer "rear" shocks to the front of the MCD Raceruner. It adds well over an inch of travel to the suspension, and is hands down one of the best mods/upgrades I have done to my MCD. There is some more information on this on pages 8 & 9 of this thread (post 152 onwards).

Congrats pfiftyonenut, Just finished painting mine a few days ago. If you planning on the tamiya rattle cans you will need 4-5 of them. I used 5 all up 2 black, 1 silver, 1 red and 1 white.

Heres some pics...

All masked up and 2 cans of black.

Peeling the mask away.

Fortifying the shell with a whole tube of shoe goo to strengthen weak areas.

And finally finished!
