That Hughes charger looks like a good fast charger that will do 4 batteries at once.

I'm still not sure about only fast charging batteries though.
And it is still neccessary to cycle batteries (at least to condition them)

It looks like only the fast chargers have peak detection all the others have to be timed depending on the charge left in your pack except for the alpha4.

Even though the battery bug is slow it wouldn't need to be used very often just to condition new packs and cycle NiCd's every once and a while.

The other thing that I find an issue with the Hughes charger over and above only fast charging, especially at $285, is that it only uses idiot lights. It does nothing to let the user know that the batteries really got their full charge, and give them another data point to validate it. If it had the green 'go' light, and a display saying that it either charged for a specific amount of time, or put in a xxxmah, I would be more comfortable with it.

If I get a green light, I also want to know how long, or how much capacity was replaced, so that I can determine if it is in fact ready to go. The light only tells me that the charger "thinks" it did what was right. The time or capacity would allow me to confirm it.

Its probably just me being picky, but when you have expensive planes balancing on something as simple as a $30 battery pack, I'd like all the info I can get.

Jetranger.
Your statement is not entirely correct. In a series circuit each element in the circuit sees the same current. So if the cells are not all the same size the ones of lower capacity will be fully charged first. If the charge rate is about c/10 no damage will be done to the cells of lesser capacity. They will simply be dissipating the excess current through heat. Any size cell can be connected to a current of c/10 indefinitely without harm.
