Hi,

Just came up with this idea because ive seen it twice now, Adding a big block engine (.21 upwards) into the rs4 evo, but not using the conversion mounts. just drilling the holes for the origonal mounts. just needed help on any engines i can put into the car. does anyone know of anyone whos done this? im not looking to use a brand new engine or the best one out there. just like a .21 savage engine with a few mods. thanx

Your probely n ot gonna find anyone whos done this, but the first thing you hould do is figure out what engine your getting, and figure out all its dimensions, so you can drill holes properly

Oh yea im goin to, ill do this on my original chassis, which has scratches on and that. its going to be a drift car in the end. Can someone tell me what shaft I need? also im most likely going to have to have a slide carb, is there just one set i can buy for the rs4.?

Yor probably nott gonna be able to dirve well at all with a big block, it would weigh down the car too much, and would ruin the chasi balance. just get a fast small block and save your self the hassle. Yah its cool to have a big block, but it wont work well, and will be terribler as a drifter. You can get big block power in a small block package with a .18 TZ, it was dyno'ed by 2 magazine around 2.2 hp. Thats more than alot of big blocks.

If you're sticking with the BB idea (and i've thought about it myself...) then may i suggest the Thunder Tiger Pro .21 to power it. The engine is a screamer, and cheap too. It was the standard engine in the original MGT/MT-A4, as well as loads of other TT buggies and a few Schumacher cars (the ones all advertised at over 70mph).

It's also notoriously easy to tune, and should you need them, rebuild parts are as cheap as they come. I've got two of them, and for the price they simply can't be beaten. Great engine, really great engine.

http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=ShowSpecification&ItemID=23936 - You can find them brand new for around £80 if you search....

It's an SG shaft, so most BB clutches would fit directly - i don't know if it's the same shaft as the stock engine in your car, but with the mods you're going to be doing it won't matter anyway.

Any mounts built for .21 engines should fit (it's probably something you could go into a model shop and ask for).

If it fits on the HPI engine it'll probably fit on the TT. I don't know why you're bothering with a 2-speed though - it's just something else to go wrong, and you'll have more than enough bottom end punch and top speed with a single speed.

Putting heavier wieght oil in the right side would make it even worse then just leaving it alone, either way its not gonna handle well, but it will be cool to look at...if thats what you want

yea the sg crank with the hpi screw on thing for it. if i dont use the oil i can always just higher the rear right shock. just to balance it out. also ive already got the 2speed fitted. so whats the point in not using it

if you are wanting more power, slap an os 18tz into it, that thing has tons of torque and would match your .21 you putting in there (if not come close)

Thats exaclt what i said, and the amount of money your gonna put into squezing a BB into an RS4 is around the same, or even a little more then just getting the .18 TZ, but i guess you think its gonna work, so tell us if it does in the end.

Omg what did I say at the start of the thread? no expensive engine. that would cost me like £200 if not more. i cud pick up a .21 for £70 at the most.
