An older thread gives Molex p/n for Tamiya connectors, 351-43-0201 and 351-41-0201, and Digikey carries those as well as the contacts needed, 357-27-0201 and 357-28-0201, for general applications.

I have to use these for a non-standard application because the rechargeable battery packs are so widely available (even in Radio Shack). I'm worried about corrosion, and I have a problem with wire size. My application is very low current <200mA, typically about 20mA.

I've seen gold contacts in my LHS as part of a Tamiya connector assembly with 10" wires, so gold contacts must be made by someone.

I called Molex and they faxed me the documents on their parts, which include contacts for as small as 24awg wire, however no gold contacts and I would like to use 26awg wire on one of the connectors. Okay, so that's a little silly paired with 16awg battery packs, but it's the problem I'm faced with.

Does anyone know who else besides Molex makes these connectors? I will need to buy thousands so it's a little beyond LHS capabilities.
Thanks,
Dave

It's a shame you have to use connectors that large. The loss through the connectors must be far greater than say a servo connector.
You might try Maxxprod.com or use a little anti-oxidant grease applied with a tiny paint brush. Most electrical supply houses carry the stuff. (Cu-Alaid and Noalox are some common names.)
Thousands?

Thanks Jazzy for the Noalox suggestion, that will really help.

Disregarding corrosion, I think the loss in this cheap connector is very small at low current. I can imagine every milliohm is a concern with the high current draw typical of RC applications, but I'm designing for a bicycle cyclometer, which uses very little power. Yeah, thousands is what we expect, this is a really nice bike. -Dave

Well, it turns out the mechanical design for the battery compartment won't allow a standard RC NiMH battery pack to fit. So we're going to use AA rechargeables in a holder and I get to choose the best connector for the job.

I want gold contacts. In the selection on maxxprod, the BEC (JST) looks pretty good for our needs. Can anyone comment on this connector? Any idea who makes it?

Thanks

Duh, I'm looking all over for BEC and finally tried JST... looks like this is what we'll use, and I'll stop talking to myself here
