What you are trying to do is cycle a pack? I have never used the cycle on the elite nor the discharge.

c/10 on a 1000mah battery would be, 10mah charge rate?

Why would you charge for 150% of capacity? Doesn't this overcharge and ruin a battery?

As the rate of charge drops the delivered capacity must go up by %

1C rate is around 100%
1/10 rate is around 150%


There is a rate that can be on constant and if the rate is low enough the batt will never get charged.

c/10 for a 1000 mah pack is 100 ma.

So C/10 doesn't mean divide C by 10. I see.

So charge rate has to be equal to the rate at which a NiCd or NiMH naturally loses power, or of course it won't charge. This doesn't explain why you have to overcharge. Or, are you telling me that the 150% isn't really an overcharge, but rather simply what you set the charger at in order to acquire a full charge? If so, what numbers do you use to base how long and how much to charge for?

Why do it so slow?

I think my Elite is using a C/10 charge rate when it automatically sets up. It's charging my 2400mah cell at .240amps (240mah), which would be C/10. Would this not essentially accomplish the same thing you guys are doing?

Yes and no..what you have to do with new packs is a formation charge which takes anywhere between 14-16 hours..Since the Elite is a peak detection charger it will shut down before all the cells have been balanced. After you do this cycle 3-4 times then you can either peak charge them or just charge up at c/10..c/5 etc..

Yes, this cycle is taking forever (sitting at something like 14 hours right now). It hasn't shut off or anything. Could you please tell me the difference between what the setting mentioned here is and what I'm doing?

The charger is just shutting down when it hits the mah setting I put it, or pretty close to that.

I am kind of seeing what you guys are doing... I think. lol

I just checked and my Elite is actually charging it at around .95 amps. My mistake.

c/10 is capacity divided by 10
1000/10 = 100
