Status: offline 		Not quite... I just read all 15 plus pages and am going to be getting one of these after the wifey gets my gift card for the LHS... SHHHH.... I accidentally found it in our room... she doesnt know LOL.... ( I hope she would not plan on giving a $150 gift card for the LHS to anybody else!)

So I will be picking one of these up.... wanted one since I first saw it. I currently have a 3d Hobby shop 47" Yak 54... love that plane too.... unfortunately I started out flying in parks where I can still fly the yak however I am thinking that the cub is going to outgrow that space... maybe the local fairgrounds when nobody is around?

Once you have flown it a few times in a bigger space the park might not be a problem. The 45+ degree climbout it can do helps. I have had problems with rough ground (horse hoof prints) making the takeoff roll erratic. But once it is in the air, the slow airspeed makes it easy to keep in close and land where you want it. I use low rates for takeoff and high rates for the rest of the flight.

Look at it this way, Kinda like school, the first class has graduated, now it's time for the second class of pilots to take over. And you guys get it easy, we already did a lot of the work for ya.

zx11, put bigger wheels on her. I had tundra tires on mine, it would roll over just about anything.

iv got a few videos on youtube of my high speed taxing any comments on those / tips would be great

i understand that i need to let the tail come up and more speed before take off .....

Status: offline 		Video of Gerry's E-Flite J3 so, everyone can see up close and personal that you can balance this RC Model very effectively using the smaller 3-Cell, 2100mAH, Li-POLYs and maintain her super light and agile resulting in graceful and smooth flight characteristics.

For those that fly this model and tip stall (most importantly in a spin) then, they maybe in a setup with incorrect CG or other issues.

has anybody done this or attempted this ?

the only reason im asking is a friend of mine who flys alot watched me try to take off on this crappy field and he asked me why i dont try to hand launch it ....

or have a second person hand launch with a running start and full throttle...

it does seem pretty light and with a good enough toss i think it might work but....

any ideas would be great

I wouldn't try it since bigger models need more flying speed. I think a hand launch would result in the cub trying to climb out from a full stall condition.

Status: offline 		Looking for help with my j3 cub. When I test fitted the wing joiner inside the two wing panels, it was not that tight. Is this normal? Or will the epoxy just keep everything tight. Also reading the manual about glueing the wing panels, it reads "apply epoxy to both the wing joiner and he joiner opening of both wing panels." This is a bit confusing, does this mean only apply glue to the actual joiner piece and inside the joiner opening. I would assume that glue would also need to be applied to the wood rib where each panel touches?

any help is appreciated.

I don't think my joiner was that tight fitting width wise. Top to bottom it had to be sanded slightly to fit. I used epoxy on the ribs in addition to the opening and joiner.

Status: offline 		Great thanks, that is what I did, looks like it worked fine. The joiner was not really as tight as I would have liked, but once the epoxy was in there it felt pretty snug.

i flew my J3 cub for the first time

on youtube: Eflite J3 first flight

it was a little windy but nothing we thought it wouldn't handle so off we went

pretty good flight

the wind caught it at one time and did a barrel roll.... which i didn't even notice but the guys said it happened and indeed in the video around
1:56 and i recovered it ...

and then i decided to land it because it was sketchin and stalled it on approach

and the hand launch was very successfully it could have been better if i gave it full power right away but seemed to work
according to my assistant it was hard to hold due to the balance point..... which is like right under the landing gear ...

over all good flight cant wait to go up again

oh and btw im a beginner pilot and this is my first plane first flight

Status: offline 		Not bad for a first try at RC. I stalled my first attempt at landing, too. I don't think the cub is a good trainer since it can get squirly during take off. You might want to invest in a RC simulator.

Status: offline 		yah well i do have a simulator its old ( aerofly pro when it first came out) and it worked good for practice

iv got rc heli and boat and toy plane experiance but this was the first big rc plane

its all good i just need to figure our where the stalling point is

Status: offline 		I put a evolution .36 nt on my J3. Everyone said not too. I have close to 75 flights on it off the water, and haven't had any issues other than maybe a little to much power. Its a nice flying plane with no really bad tendencies in my opinion.

Status: offline 		i have had the power 25 since december but i have just put a order in for the piper. so i will post some pics when it is built . i have the flycamone aswell so i hope to get some good in flight film. i will be using 2 hs81 and 2 of the newer hs82 on the wings. and the EF 60A ESC

Status: offline 		My name is Dave, and I am another proud owner of the E-Flite J3 Cub. Alls I can say is E-Flite did there homework with this plane. This is my first float plane and I have been flying for almost 30 years. I took my first test flights from hard ground earlier this week, today was the maiden on the floats. This plane balanced perfect from the beginning and even after I installed the floats still balanced perfect. The flights on the floats required absolutely no trim from when I was flying it on the wheels, that is remarkable in my book. This little plane is going to be one of my favorites, besides it fits in the back of my SUV, fully put together, just right. I am impressed with this one so much I want to get the Beaver next and put it on floats.
