The TLT is your best bet for a crawler. Parts availability, cost, and design are the main reason the TLT is the mainstay of the 2.2 division.

Stock, neither one is much of a crawler.

TLT all the way because the axle are closed up unlike the PTI that has and open axle that lets in dirt and all but the TLT does not [Also the TLT alxes look better][Just felt like posting my TLT]

Cool, find a E-Max tranny to stick in it and you should be on your way.

Tough as nails!

You could also use a Stampede tranny. Cost less, easy to find, and pretty strong as well.

The stock TXT tranny isn't that great for crawling IMO.

If you really crawl, you must run into serious probs. My tranny slips and I don't even have any serious crawlijng conversion.

i own both trucks, and the pti is a big pain to build. the axles need major work to make them preform better. first, ball diffs. lose them. eletric tc3 straight axles are a direct fit. afterwards, u need to dremel the area where the dogbones fit into the diffs to allow more clerance. after that install a set of hpi super nitro rs4 dogbones into the axles since the stock ones are too long and dont allow much turning. finally fit the hub with a standard pin and nut combo so u can run 2.2 wheels and tires as normal. the other issue with the axles are the way u mount the canilevers... which im still trying to solve since the stock method is weak.

the pti is more of a project then a crawler.... its fun though. i like to build stuff like this
