Hey,

I am looking at getting this plane but I am not sure if it will fit in my car. Can someone do me a favour and measure from the ground to the highest part of the fuse when its on its wheels.

Thanks in Advance

Adam

So I'm really looking forward to flying my yak now I cam across this thread and found that a guy had put a evolution 26gx piped on a EF yak 54 74" he has a video http://www.viddler.com/explore/TeamAeroparts/videos/1/ and it doesn't seem to be that low on power and to be hones the evolution piped is about 200-300 more rpm than my mld because mine is just stock, anyways this evolution pulled this thing around plus the yak in that video weighed 6.2kg or 13.6lbs! With my planes weight at basically RTF everything including fuel 11lbs should be a missle and a floater!

Long story short went to take the yak out for the maiden this weekend and found out my crank shaft on my mld 28 magically became bent so the maiden has been postponed while I get the parts to fix the engine.

Since its been about 4 years since this plane has been out anyone recommend a good gas engine to haul this around? I'd like to keep it the in the 12lbs area and still be able to pull out of a hover with authority.

Not sure if anyone is paying attention to this thread anymore.......  I just bought one of these used.  It's in great shape.  It has a DLE 30 installed.  I don't currently know how to fly 3D I'm a sport flyer.  So I was balancing the plane to the forward of the CG (6").  To get it to balance at this point I needed to add 8oz of weight in the nose.  I was just curious if anyone else has run into this?

Dave

Dave, usually that would be a little too far forward but it is a great starting point.  A good in flight test for CG on this type of airplane is to pull up into a 45 degree upline and do a 1/2 roll to invert. Let her go hadns free. What I look for is a gradual pull to inverted level. If it does this rather quickly which I think it will then start to remove nose weight until you are comfortable with where it is. The old school thinking will have you beleive that nose heavier is easier to fly. Not true. A GC closer to nuetral is. Nose heavy will require you to add up trim that will change with airspeed changes. Wind is an airspeed change and so the airplane will react more to gusts of wild and fast throttle changes. On an aerobatic model, forward CG will also make rudder-pitch coupling worse. Next time you fly it, in level flight throw in some rudder. I bet it will want to yaw and dive. The correct CG will reduce that tendancy, mixing will eliminate it. Too forward a CG will also make you land faster. It takes speed and more airflow over the elevators to hold the heavy nose up. Good luck and enjoy your airplane. My Father has the 50cc version and it flys very well.

I still have mine
DO AN INCIDENT CHECK, QUITE A BIG RUN WENT OUT WITH OUT OF TRIM STABS, WHICH MADE FOR DIFFICULT MAIDENS.
If its correct the plane is a blast and can tolerate large CG shifts.
Enjoy.

Thanks Nitro,

I will.  This is a used plane that has been flown so I hope that is not an issue.

Don't hope. Check the incidence. Level the plane w/o the canopy with a bubble level on the flat canopy rail, that will give you 0 on the wings. Then measure the stabs, if they aren't 0 tweak the holes with a file until you get 0 on both. If the holes are way out, fill the area of the hole with a cut off flat toothpick so it can't change from vibration

I finally put this up this past weekend.  What a blast to fly!  I could not believe how slow it will fly while landing it.  It damn near hovers.

I maybe selling mine, just too many planes here and its always been my back up plane with very little airtime on it. less than 75 flights.
Airframe only 9/10 no crashes 295$
With OS 1.60 and pump and Bisson Pitts, low run time and extremely strong and reliable, add 225$ Its a fuel sipper too.
Total is 520$, with combo I can leave the servos (Hitec 645 MG, which should have a new gear set installed) in and make it an even 600$ for all.
Buyer pays shipping.
Probably have better luck here local, but thought I'd offer it here

I might be interested in the airframe but need to wait until around Feb.  But I think shipping from BC to Southeast Virginia is probably a deal killer.

Yeah shipping her would be tough
My pricing is also too high for US citizens, it was 399$ new
But once through Canadian customs and shipping it was well over 550$ to my door, so a local would likely pay 295$ or close to it.
