Ok I took 2" off the firewall last night and after taking apart the original firewall I reepoxied it in place.
Followed by mounting the engine. I,m definately going to need some longer gear as the 22x8 Mejzlic won,t have a lot of ground clearance when mounted.
In hind site I should have only taken 1-1/2" off the original engine box instead of 2" as my overall fuse dimensions are going to 1/2" -3/4" short of the stock location, I can live with it though as I,ll have more cowl overlap when compared to the stock setup.

Thats clean!

Thanks its not that hard to do at all.
I did it to my FuntanaX a couple of years ago to accomodate a Saito 150 and it turned out pretty good as well.
I,m going to build up this plane with the gasser and see what its like, if I,m not happy I,ll switch to a large glow engine.
I,ll post more pics as I get them.

You should be pretty darn happy with the gas.. I just flew mine for the first time with a Brillelli 46GT,and it was great.. I first flew it with the OS 160.with the 46gt you can tell its a little more wingloaded, but not enough to worry at all about.. If I never flew it with the OS 160 first I never would have felt the differance..

I have been slowly working on getting mine put together. I have decided to go electric with it though.

my question is, I have 4 Futaba 9451 servos that I installed in the ailerons and elevators(leftovers that I had in my Trex600's), but I am not sure if they are up to the task or not. They claim something like 127oz. of torque on 6volts, is this enough torque? Or should I maybe look into different servos? I considered getting some Hitec 5985's or 5955's but I am thinking those would really be overkill for this size of airplane. Can someone please offer advice on my servo choices? Or am I just worrying too much over the Futaba's. I am not really too fond of the Hitec 5625's or the 5645's so those are out of the question for me. My flying style is fairly aggressive but not what I would call extreme 3d type stuff.

My setup is:
Eflite power 160
2x 5s flightpower 3700's in series (10s)
Xoar 19x8e prop
servos (undecided) currently Futaba 9451's Ail's/elev's and Hitec 5945 for rudder.
AR9000 receiver and 1 JR 2700mah nimh receiver battery.

fully loaded it weighs in at 12.4lbs ready to fly. Its pulling 70amps on a WOT static pull and getting right at 2500 watts. At roughly 200 watts per pound it should have plenty of power to get it around the sky.

Yeah 2500watts sounds good . Think the recomended servo tourqe was over 100-110oz ,you should be good with that.

Looks real sweet Dave, I finally got everything to build mine now just wondering what would be the best prop for this plane with the Saito 220 in it as I have to probably order one.

Thanks Ed.

Hi Ed, Sound s good.
I,ve picked up a Mejzlic 19x8 and 20x7 props in Toledo to use with my Saito 220. But as you know I switched directions and went with the gas option instead.
I had a 220 in the past and it worked exremely well with the 19x8, so thats why I picked up another one. The 20x7 was recommended to me as it provides a bigger disk and only a small increase in load.
pm me if your interested in one or both as I won,t be using them in the near future.
I,ll post more pics as I get them.

Dave
