the 2.5 has no hope in hell of ever coming close to 40

yeah, no chance in hell...
Hell, my Pro .15 T-maxx did 35! it took forever to get there, but that's beside the point.

the 2.5 in a Maxx will just tap the underside of 40, and the 2.5 in a Revo will hit a good 40. if you don't believe it, you've never seen a stock 2.5 Traxxas truck run.

watch the video champ !

that TMaxx is our local MT racing TQ truck... that thing is tuned perfectly and it mustered an Earth shattering 28 MPH and 30 MPH between 2 runs.... Now a real 40 mph truck is my Revo, can you see the difference,

Now my P6 Revo smashes the lights out of a Revo 3.3 as well, not even comparable..

I hate the TRX 2.5 more than anybody here, and I'll tell you that that 2.5 was NOT running to its full potential. hot day or not, you had a blind monkey on acid tuning that 2.5.

the owner of that truck just TQ'd this week with it, that is tuned 100% of what it can do, he is veteran racer and has owned a bunch of 2.5's.... He is a mechanical engineer by trade and a seasoned veteran, who tunes and sets up motors for his brothers hobby store...he has hundreds of track wins under his best...compared to a big SH 28 P6 / XTM 457 the TRX 2.5 is just that slow....we will bring out a 3.3 for you to se as well.... We just did a top speed run on another forum with a RB C6 in a Revo and got 46 mph....to even compare the 2.5 is a joke.
