I had a stinger with a g-62 and flew this aircraft for 3 years.
There were more flights on this than I can count. The G-62
and the stinger are a fine combination. Plenty of power and it would do anything you wanted. I finally put mine down and decided not to repair it. The only draw back to the stinger is the
plastic, it just does't hold up. Mine had a smoke system in it, the total weight was 24 pounds.

I built one w/ 4.2. Less than 10ft rollout, vertical at a high rate of speed for as long as you hold on. Mine was 19#. Still have it and we use for an all around sport flyer w/ whatever new engine needs run time. Top speed about the same w/ any motor. Good pass around airplane too. Everybody flies!
Here it is w/ a 3.7 twin.

Who makes aftermarket f'glass parts for the Stinger? And what about the turtledeck? I've been thinking about building one as a flight mule for new gas burners. The Stinger I've gotten my hands on was a blast to fly!!
Thanks for any help.

Mike

I'm thinking it's more to add all glass to one of these planes then price of the original kit. You will have one dandy Stinger though , and as there is another thread on RCU about Stans, they are first rate company, can't go wrong there.
Yes, they carry everything including turtledeck, that comes in the kit, only it's done in that beautiful gel-coated durable fiberglass.

You can also get fiberglass Stinger parts from Fiberglass Specialties. I've gotten many cowls, wheelpants, etc from them, and their product is always first rate. Here's a link to their site...

Hope this helps...

I built the Giant stinger several yrs ago when first released . I reinforced the turtle deck with watered down white glue and fiber glass cloth. You have to be careful and watch the weight. The white glue adhere's to the plastic much better than epoxy resin and it flexes without busting loose. I have also used this method on a few cowls with nice results. The stinger flew for a couple yrs and the last time I seen it there were still no cracks in that turtle deck. I can't remember just what brand of glue I used, just make sure it adhere's to plastic after you rough it up a bit.

Thanks for the link to Figerglass Specialties - I totally forgot about them. Fwiw, Stan's web page seems to be kaput.
