If you are looking at buying a used CP here is what I found, and or should have done in retrospect.

Of course ask if it has been crashed and rebuilt, but assume it has.

Have the person fire up the heli and fly it, if he cant that is a hint but not necessarily a bad thing.

If it cant be flown, unplug the main motor connector from 4 in 1
http://www.bladecprepair.com/man_mr_setup_and_adjustment#tracking then plug in the battery and allow to arm. Give slight throttle and right rudder, it should all but spin out of your hand (surprisingly strong if you have not held one before) if the motor is good ($10) if its not.

Unplug battery, then plug in the main and pull the tail plug... set something heavy on the training balls (assuming it has t gear) I put short soup bowls on them, and slowly throttle up (slightly)... to make sure the motor fires well.

HERE IS WHERE THE GOOD STUFF STARTS....

Maybe they were advanced flyers, maybe it was wrecked but if you buy used (maybe even if they were able to fly it well) it should be considered ESSENTIAL to buy and check the pitch with tool, check the buildup of the blade grips, check the lower and upper pitch limits, make sure the swash is for the most part level (trimmed mechanically), and lubricated with silicon.

The Blade CP I bought was either customized quite a bit, or rebuilt not to specs and was a bear to fly at best... after I rebuilt it from the ground up it flies like a dream.

THE LAST THING I SHOULD HAVE DONE WAS TO POP IT OUT OF BOX AND TRY TO FLY (which I did, no matter how "new" it looks)... it costs me a tail motor and almost the heli in thinking it was so difficult to fly. After being rebuilt (I also added metal swash, Bell Hiller, new main shaft), it almost flys itself at 5 foot hover.

If anyone has bought or is looking to buy a used CP feel free to ask other questions... Im actually quite happy I bought used one, I would have never rebuilt a new one and learned a TON in the process...

Stable flights !!!!!

Wally
