hey guys.....just maidened my seamaster today. went ok...first take off attempt resulted in a series of hops followed by a nose dive (ouch). but the second take off went much beter. I am very impressed with this plane, flies great!!! i was only up for about 8 minutes and it seams to only have about 1/8 tank or so of fuel left. I was wondering what you guys are getting for flight times...i'm using a 2stroke .46.

What size tank? Can't remember what it normally uses. The most I have ever used with a 46, a Webra 50 actually, is one ounce per minute but that is with the thing turning 15k static and flown full out so normal consumption would be much less than that. Tooting around in a trainer type airplane may use ½ ounce per minute. Depending on flying style ¾ ounce per minute might be a fair estimate. A new engine running rich would burn more. With a lot of touch and gos fuel consumption is less; balls to the walls, more so it is hard to say.

My Seamaster has an OS .46 and I feel that ten minutes is my limit before bringing her in. Takeoffs will improve as you get used to flying her, it seems that sometimes I need to hold just a "whisker" of up elevator helps to eliminate the hopping on the take off run. Also find that it helps to do more gradual take off run, versus slam the throttle foward and hope for the best. My Seamaster is built from a kit and I assume that both ARF and kit will fly the same. Good Luck.

flew again today....take offs went much beter. both flights yielded about ten minutes of flight time, and there wasnt much fuel left...not much at all. this was running at 3/4 to full throttle...love the wide open/screaming low flybys

anyone wedge a bigger tank in...ace says it holds 300cc...which is 10.1oz if calcs are right

It will take a bigger tank. Without taking it apart I can't say what's in mine but it would be a 10 or maybe even a 12 and likely a Sullivan. It's been a long while. You could check the dimensions of various makes on line and make up a dummy tank out of foam, wood or what have you to test for fit if you don't otherwise get a definite answer. I use a K&B65 and run times are reasonable so think it's likely a 12 ounce crammed in there. The Sullivan flex tank would allow a bit of wiggle room for fitting. Looks like you are burning about ¾ ounce per minute which works out about right for 10 minutes on an 8 ounce tank.
