Status: offline 		I just received my Ultra-Balancer and at first glance it looks like I'm really going to like it. Here is my question. I have two 5s3p 6000mAh packs that I purchased from you and one of them seems to be just fine. The other one when I plug the balancer into it I only get three of the five lights coming on. The pack is OK as far as voltage, and has plenty of power when I have discharged it. Is it possible that two of the wires on the balancing plug have come loose, or maybe were never connected? Is this something that I can fix, or is it something that can be fixed at all? I am really enjoying these batteries, and am going to buy another set for my Aircobra when I'm ready to start flying it. Thanks for a great product.

Here are the voltages that I read off of the back of the connector pins.

Pins 1/2=4.2volts
Pins 2/3=4.2v
Pins 3/4=4.2v
Pins 4/5=-.5v
Pins 5/6=8.4v

Status: offline 		Are you sure about the reading on pins 4-5 and 5-6. If they are accurate, something is very wrong. A lipo cell at charged to 8.4 is ready to burst.

First of all, Yes the reading of 8.4 between post 5/6 is correct.
Here is what I can deduce from the readings.
I think that the wires for post 4 and 5 are both soldered to the same connector lug. Who ever was doing the soldering probably atached the wire for the fifth pin on the wrong side of the cell, thus making them basically the same reading which I have The reason that I say this is because when I took a reading between posts 1 and 3 I also came up with a reading of 8.4v. I aslo checked the voltage between posts 3 and 5 and found a little less than 4 volts. I don't see any distortion in any of the cells, and the entire pack voltage is a very acurate 21 volts at full charge. I flew this pack two days ago, before I received my balancers, and my CC 110 controller reported 10 cells when I first powered it up. I'm using the two 5s3p packs in seried. I hope that this helps.

You are probably right about the mis-wiring. How many amps are you pulling with your application?

At WOT it is pulling around 90 to 95 Amps, but I do most of my flying at half to 3/4. I can fly for atleast nine to ten minutes and I'm not taking out over 4500 mAh to recharge. The batteries are warm to the touch, but you can hold your hand on them. I don't have a temp probe. Does that sound about right?

Status: offline 		No problem for those packs to handle that. I will send out a replacement for the one that is mis-wired. Using them like that can be a problem if a cell gets out of balance and mis-wired as it is, you have no way to balance it. Can you send the bad one back when you get the new one. Please enclose a note in the box and we'll re-imburse you for the shipping expense.

That sounds great! I knew that I was going to enjoy doing business with you. I'm attaching a picture of my current project that is on the building board. It is a 1/5 scale or 81 inch P-39 aircobra. I'm going to use the same power system that is in my Mustang for it, along with your batteries again. I'm just not sure if I will need the stick pack or brick for balancing purposes yet. The cowl is a foam mock-up. I have since layed up one in fiberglass.

Status: offline 		can anyone tell me how this balancer is supposed to work? i need to know so i can know if its doing its job. iv already had one 70$ pack burst from improper care but i think it was my fault not the balancers.
