hi all i am in the process of setting my heli up with new electrics had enough of dead stick control have also changed the servos but cant remember how the collective sits normally on this heli.

can anyone please tell me where the servo arm sits when trim is in neutral and throttle is down (eg. the angle the arm is at) also what hole the control link is on

all the best mark

With the 3D switch in "Normal" mode, and the throttle/collective stick anywhere from fulldown to half, the servo arm for collective should be roughly horizontal and the blades should be a "zero"pitch.

The throttle stick does not move the collective servo until you are at roughly half stick or above in "Normal" mode. When you flip the 3D switch, you will have full collective range (should be roughly equal amount of through, up and down). Do not check this without unplugging the motor!

I will have to go get the helicopter to check to see what hole the link is in.

Does this help any?

Ok, first off, set the position of the lift servo default at 50% (middle)
Get that plate as close to level as possible (the "pitch plate"
Adjust the slider until it's sitting in the middle of it's slot on the main shaft
adjust the blades so they sit level, no pitch

Those are the settings for 3D mode, low throttle should be anywhere from 0-30%, whatever makes the slider move to it's lowest position, same with high throttle

now, take your Tx and program pitch curve for "normal" mode, I personally prefer no throttle to be 50% mid throttle for 60% and high stick to 80%

yeates,

I stand corrected. I wish I had asked the question that the Cheat asked (i.e. which transmitter are you using). You did state new electrics and I just missed it. Sorry.

My response was for the stock Walkera TX, which sets up differently from anything else I have ever seen. The 3D switch in normal just inhibits any pitch movement below 1/2 throttle. The full collective range is restored when the switch is flipped to the 3D mode. A strange arrangement, but it works.

I do have a "normal" radio in my TREX and it is set for zero throttle at full low stick, 80% at half stick, and 100 % at full stick in normal mode. In 3D mode it is set for 100% at low stick, 90% at half stick, ang 100% at full stick. Pitch curves are identical (-10 to +10 with zero pitch at half stick. There is no change when you flip the 3D switch (no sudden jump, etc.). LIft off is at about 5/8 to 3/4 stick at about 3050 RPM (tached).

I do not know how much this applies to the 36 as they are quite different. It has been so long since I flew the Shogun, that I cannot remember how I set it up (it is, collective-wise, identical to the 36). I believe it is set up similarly to the TREX, but again, do not recall exactly.

Thanks Cheat!
