I have a question regarding heat sinks - how would you fit one on/around/near that motor, since it's stuffed in there like that? My MidSE's motor it mounted kind of like that. With the new 19Tx1 Chameleon2 Pro I've got in there, that puppy gets hot.

I know adjusting the gearing (pinion/spur) will help me with a cooler motor. But if I wanted to go heatsink, where in the heck would I put it? Or you, for that matter?

My RC10 came (from eBay) with a HS attached to the plate the motor mounts too. Not really sure how much good it does though.

Yeah, figured that I just need to keep an eye on the motor temp and see how hot it gets after a pack or a few minutes.. although I am a fan of sacrificing a little bit of performance for better reliability / durability.. (since I am not racing..!)

you could maybe fit some RAM (like for PC's) heatsinks on the motor plate? also I suggest you take out the tamiya and bullet connectors on your ESC and motor and switch to deans. The tamiya plugs are prone to melting with the type of power brushless pulls.

2 options.. one, get a "smaller" heatsink around the motor can.. like this one.. short fin design:

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=001158152&I=LXJD62&P=K

Might just fit! (I will probably get one to mess with to see if I can squeeze one in there.. )

2nd, get a heatsink and attach to the metal motor plate.. not ideal, but motor plate does get very hot and every bit is better than nothing, you know! Need to look into what kind of heatsink I can mount on the motor plate..

Tamiya sells the bar type... (3 bars) that attach to the motor plate... like I said, better than nothing!

I know I know.. Everyone tells me to change to Deans.. And you know what, I have many many Deans in my parts bin.. I just haven't changed them out yet.. since when you do one, you need to do ALL... LOL!

I am thinking about making some kind of ram air duct to direct air into the motor area..

Might get dirty and stuff, though, eh?!

I doubt you'll be able to fit the traxxas heatsink in there and if you can it won't do much as there is not a lot of air flowing into the motor hole. I think the RAM heatsinks should work though... maybe even attach a 20-40 mm fan to the back of the neo

Hmm, that might be worth trying (err, if it fits). Of course, I just ordered from Tower and it's shipping now. I get killed by them on shipping....guess I'll wait to order the HS for my next batch.

hey why didn't I get an email like that? I've spent probably near 3-4 thousand over the years at tower although I have 2 accounts one for my dad's work place and one for home so I can use codes twice! lol

something like this is what I was talking about: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835116011
little heatsinks with adhesive on the back.

I thought the same way until I sat down one night and made a tamiya->dean's adapter. I didn't want to have to change the plugs on my rotostart, so I just wired one up, took about 5 minutes, and I still have Tamiya plugs on the charger, even.
