I got all the radio gear and batteries in their final locations tonight. I also mounted the ignition and a battery tray for the receiver battery. I took another weight reading and she's at 16.8 lbs this should be very close to the final weight as the only things to add are another strap for the receiver battery (Fore/Aft strap), I will need to move it forward to do the final balancing and two 3" extensions for the ailerons. I will also need to add a few more pieces of fishing line to tie servo wires into neat bundles.

WW2 Ace, Plane looks good, just had a small question on the Sullivan fuel filter used on the overflow line.

Is that rated to be used in Gas (I have used them for glow)? Anyone else used them with gas before?

Arvind, those are rated for "All fuels" by Sullivan. I have one in my 102" QQ Yak.

Here are two pics of my Buddys plane. It's an Wild Hare Extra 330LX. i know Tom doesn;t make this arf anymore but he bought from a guy who had it stored for a while with motor. it was all white, all the graphics were done by Cutting Edge Graphics. and my buddy put them on himself!!! the plane flys great!!! has a da100 in it and it has plenty of power!!! on takeoff he can be at half throttle and after 8 or 9 feet be in the air!!! it just seems to float like a feather!!! GO WH!!!!

I finished the wiring tonight. I made new servo leads and spliced them in. I have a method of splicing that works great and Silversurfer suggested posting a few photos. I'll do that soon, I want to use some larger wire so it shows up better. I also got my spark plug wire strain relief/anti chafe bushing mounted. It holds the plug wire without kinking it and it holds it away from the muffler. There should be no way for the wire to get cut on the cowl edge. To install the grommet I cut through it then put it over the wire then used a drop of thin CA to re join the ends. I the one photo you can just see the cut line. Tomorrow I do the final balancing & I'm hoping to have all the radio programming done Saturday. If the weather cooperates I would like to do the first flight this weekend.

Looks like you cut the covering in the side of the plane. Did you?

WW2 ACE. I am about at the same point as you with my Extra. With the exception of battery placement I look to be set up very much the way you are. Heck -- I used your build as much of my example. I probably will not be able to finish mine this weekend as I will be off racing sailboats. I am however still concerned about where to place my antenna wire. I noticed you ran your aft servo wires down the middle of the plane. Where do you plan on running the antenna.

Also, and I know this has been beat around a little, is there any concern about running the short carbon fiber throttle linkages for the throttle and choke? I have an amplified choke that I can put on the throttle servo but think that is serious overkill. I have just heard rumors about carbon fiber conducting electricity and not to use it for throttle servos (I will use a plastic connector of some type on the carb arm). Thanks in advance.

First let me say I'm honored your (or anyone for that matter) are using my build as a guideline , I just hope I haven't started you or anyone with bad habits ! This is only my second GS build and I still have a lot to learn.

As to your questions,
I plan to run the antenna wire down through a hole in the fuse and down the center on the outside of the plane as I did on my Edge. I had the same servo wire / antenna arrangement on the Edge and experienced no issues. In fact, my radio range checked at over 400' with the engine running and off with not so much as a twitch.
